Adding an AP holder to a reservation booked with Free Dining

I have an AP but the rest of my family does not. I called Disney about adding me to a room reservation where everyone else has booked FD and the CM said yes, I could be added upon arrival as long as I didn’t need the ME, 60 day FP and understood that I wouldn’t get the DDP. I forgot to ask if the package cost would increase or if I would just be added to the room with no penalty. Can anyone confirm that we can definitely do this and whether or not it costs money?

There’s a charge for a third adult in a room, I’m not sure how much.

Thanks! I would be the second true adult but there is a child who is 14, so I’m assuming he counts as a child?

Yes, an adult for tickets and dining but still a child in the room.
