I have never visited in fall (Sept/Oct) and would like to check it out. Besides Haunted Mansion being transformed into Nightmare before Christmas is there anything else I should know? Is the decor beautiful and all decked out? Also, are there ever discounted tickets during that season? I just went last month and the California resident deal was awesome!

The parks are very decorated and they do a bunch of fun themed snacks and some smaller ride overlays in addition to Haunted Mansion. Main Street & the castle hub get a very fall color/pumpkin splash with carved pumpkins around partners statues. Close by there is a Halloween Tree in Frontierland (it’s there year-round but at Halloween they add jack-o-lanterns and it’s lit up at night). Space Mtn may also get a it’s Ghost Galaxy overlay and throughout the park characters will meet in Halloween costumes with more villains than usual meeting. Also at night, DLR will usually offer the Halloween Screams Fireworks show with projections and on weekends, with fireworks too.
Then over in DCA Oogie Boogie takes over the DCA entrance sign and there is a more moody purple and black motif with a figure of the Headless horseman setup near the Partners statue and the Carthay Circle theater is lit up with projections of bats at night and does a very short little projection show every so often that adds a spooky ambiance. Carsland is all lit up too with Hallwoeen lights and the Cozy Cones get spooky faces and the nighttime dusk song to turn on the neons becomes a halloween song. And usually they change Mater & Luigi to have a very light Halloween overlay. Again characters will meet in their Halloween costumes, even the cars in Carsland, and in Avengers Campus they may have some variety on characters that are Halloween adjacent - like Agatha or Captain America zombie.
So it’s very fun all around and a great time to enjoy fall/Halloween. Unfortunately there don’t tend to be as many discounts as it’s a very popular season to join in the festivities at DLR.
One other thing to think about is that DCA has a Halloween party event several times a week so will close early and days that happens will make the DL side busier especially once the party starts.
