Going to WDW for the week of the 4th of July and rapidly approaching the 7 month window! I can’t decide where to attempt to book or what to attempt first.
We’re there for 7 nights and are doing a split stay with the Swan because I don’t have enough points for the whole week. I have an August UY (can you tell I never thought I’d be going in July??) and my 2024 points are long gone so I’m limited to what I can borrow from 2025.
We need either two studios or a 2 bedroom and are trying to decide between the below:
-4 nights in 2 studios at BRV
-3 nights in a 2 bedroom at BRV
-3 nights in a 2 bedroom at BCV
If none of those work out, then our backups would be 4 or 5 nights in 2 studios at SSR or 4 nights in a 2 bed at SSR.
My main dilemma is do I even risk trying to book the 2 studios at BRV and then if I can’t get them, then the 2 bedrooms at BRV/BCV could already be gone? Or do I go for the two studios, hope that some BRV owners are being enticed by the Poly tower, and maybe luck out? If I go for a 2 bedroom, I also can’t make my mind up between BRV or BCV (we’re planning on MK on the 3rd and EP on the 4th for fireworks).
Do you have any flexibility in your travel schedule? Sometimes I find it helpful if my arrival is at least somewhat flexible, I can try for the first possible arrival day and if I don’t get it, then I have a day or two to try again. With that strategy in mind, you could try for BRV the first day and if it’s not available, try for one of your other two options. Then the next day, try modifying it to your first choice for the next possible arrival day. And so on until you either get what you want or exhaust your options. This way at least you will hopefully have something.
(Note that “walking” reservations is ethically questionable, but if you plan to use it if it works out, it’s generally considered more acceptable.)
Our days are pretty set unfortunately. My concern with even attempting to walk is that I’m borrowing from 2025, so the point values would have to be the same (or less) or else I’d end up with extra 2025 points in my 2024 UY that expire less than a month later. But it’s something to think about!
I also got a free trial of Unlocked Magic and have been looking at what they have for the # of rooms left and the end of our stay has the least availability (7/3 for example shows only 7 studios left at BRV) so I may be overthinking this for nothing
What is it saying has the most availability? I would probably make a decision the night before you have to book. If there are only 7 studios left right now then I don’t think I would try and get two but I also think a BRV studio has a higher likelihood of coming through on a waitlist. You could maybe have a shot with a higher priced studio are BCV like a Boardwalk view?
This does seem like a dilemma. One of your questions was about if you had to go the 2 bedroom route, would you do BRV or BCV. We stayed in a 2 bedroom at BRV last June and really liked it and the pool there. BCV I believe is going to have maintenance going on for their pool/Storm Along Bay through June. Not sure if you’re planning to go to the pool but just FYI about that in case the maintenance extends to early July. I think booking of any of the new Poly Tower studios will go fast so I don’t know if that would really pull any out of the BRV studios. What is your travel group like? Would you be ok being all in a 2 bedroom together or are you really preferring two separate studios?
For 2 bedrooms, BRV has more than BCV. BWV has garden/pool view studios but only 4 left on the 4th so that I won’t even attempt
We were also considering the Poly before (not the tower) and there are a ton of studios available. We could either do 3 nights there or 4 if I buy OTU points
But I will definitely be stalking how it changes in the next week or so!
That’s true about the pool, I also wonder if it would be crazy crowded if it opens halfway through people’s vacations and they were waiting.
I’m just going with my family so we can handle each other in a 2 bedroom The only advantage to the BRV studios would be getting to stay there for 4 nights versus 3. But I stayed in a 1 bedroom at BRV last year and really liked it! My family’s never stayed here and I think they would like it too. So maybe BRV is the best choice!
