Would love any input on this. Trip is just me and my 25 yo daughter. Haven’t been since 2014. Six day tix, no LL, no hoppers. Split stay (BWV, AKL Jambo House)
5/9, arrival day: check in to BWV midday (if room isn’t ready, will they hold our luggage somewhere?) head to EP World Showcase. Leisurely browse around the world, grabbing some food from the F&G Festival booths. No rides unless lines are short - ha ha (we have another day at Epcot) but will spend time in each of the countries and do some of the movies. Stay for fireworks.
5/10: RD MK just to ride the headliners (we have another day for MK). Try to get in the virtual queue at Trader Sam’s then resort hop for drinks/snacks at Geyser Point/Territory/Tambu/Trader Sam’s (not all; want to be back to resort by 3ish).
5/11: RD USF. Hoping to hit the headliners then move to IOA (will have Express Pass) then back to USF. Will stay until we have our fill.
5/12: RD EP (extended evening hours) hit the headliners in World Showcase then move to the other areas. Break early afternoon until around 8 (have a 5:05 ressie at Topolino’s; hoping to be able to change that to around 6:00), return for more rides until closing (no fireworks). Moving Day. Will guest services take care of moving our luggage to AKL? Would we be able to hang at either resort that day?
5/13: RD AK, stay until we are done.
5/14: RD MK (extended evening hours) Lunch at Skipper’s Canteen (12:40) then break until fireworks. Stay til we’re tired.
5/15: RD HS: Hoping to take a decent break in the afternoon. No Fantasmic. 9:10 reservation at Oga’s just to see it.
Yes, but you may not get the luggage until much later in the day. You have access to both resorts and all of their amenities for the entire day of check out and check in. You just won’t have a room from 11am until whenever your room is ready in the next location. So definitely keep that in mind, and keep with you anything you’ll need during the day until 6pm
Also they will not move any perishable items. Though if you move these things yourself, your new resort will store the perishables until your room is ready. They just won’t transport them
Yes. You can use AirTags or similar to track your luggage, to see when it really has arrived at your second hotel. I did that, and it was very handy to know I could go to my second hotel for a late afternoon break and grab my luggage from BS.
I’m so excited! Dh and I were supposed to travel to southern Spain in May, but he couldn’t take the time off, so on a whim I asked dd if she could get away (she’s in grad school) and it ended up being perfect timing for her. How is the weather in early-mid May? How hot? What about rain? It looks like crowd-wise it’s a good time.
I’m sorry you and DH miss your Spain trip together, but finding time with a college-constrained DD is special.
On our trips, rain has not been a problem, though it sometimes rains overnight.
In general, we find it hot, but not oppressively hot.
That said, I do remember one day in 2011 at DHS where I was sitting on a bench with my stroller next to me as I staked out our spot for the mid-day parade. I bent forward for my head to rest in my hands and sweat dripped off the tip of my nose. That was a unique experience. LOL
