2-Day + 1 Park to Park ticket upgrade to AP question

I will be visiting UOR in April 2016. While looking to purchase annual passes, I noticed that there is a promo for a free 3rd day when purchasing a 2 Day Park to Park.

If I purchase the 2-Day Park to Park (w/ 3rd day free) and then upgrade to an AP inside the park, will Universal give me the value of a 3 day ticket toward the AP?

I feel like I remember doing this same thing 2 years ago, but can’t remember how it played out.

Anyone have any experience in trying to do this?

Would purchasing from Undercover Tourist make a difference?
