I’m also looking at some other cruise line transatlantics and relocation cruises because we enjoy shipboard time more than the ports.
BUT I’m afraid we are mostly stuck with DCL because we love the characters and Disney Difference on board. I figure we are paying a surcharge for amazing crew members and for the lost revenue from a smoky nasty casino.

I don’t feel the need to be an ambassador for other cruise lines, but this is quite a misnomer. I have been on half a dozen cruises across a couple other lines and never once set a toe in a casino.

Nevertheless, casinos are a big chunk of revenue for most cruise lines and something has to make up the difference.
I’ve enjoyed playing in the casinos in my younger years, but I was put off by them on a Carnival cruise last January where you had to walk through the stinky casino to reach the theater. Just not our thing.
Agreed! You wouldn’t even know they were there on many ships. I’ve been on five lines (including DCL, so four others).
Which ship was this? I’ve never had to walk thru a casino.
I would be afraid if a cruise was this cheap! 
I would be like “what’s wrong with it?” 
But NCL has a good reputation so I think you were fortunate.

Carnival Pride - with the main dining room at the aft end of Deck 2, through the casino is the logical route to the theater in the bow.
Unfortunately it’s very convenient for us, sailing out of Baltimore weekly an hour from our home.

it’s my understanding that repositioning/relocation cruises are always less expensive…

Another Liner, forgot who, went on a DCL repositioning cruise the same time we did last November, but they only had 3 stops, we had 7 and 4 countries. We both stopped in Funchal. I don’t know how much their passage was discounted UK to US.

If you make your down payment and they drop the price and you notice the price drops they will lower your cost too if you call and ask. I did it twice before our final balance was due 
ETA: They also give discounts to various groups like military and maybe teachers, firefighters.. can’t remember the list

It was me. I don’t remember our total but I do know our 14 night cruise for 2 was less than our 4 night for 3 people on the Wish the year before. For me it’s not all about the price. We plan to try other lines but when I look at them I just don’t get as excited as I do when I look at DCL

and we don’t care for DCL… its a BIG turn off for us, the price, size, crowds, running and screaming kids, assigned dinning. Nope. We really enjoy seeing kids in the parks but not on a boat Sam I am

I pretty much find good in all cruises. Some have better activities, some have better shows, some have better prices… And I want/need different things at different times. Were I to only align myself with one operator, I’d have to take a lot fewer cruises.
I love assigned dining, and like that Disney lets you have that AND different dining rooms. But, there is so little to do activity wise. The Wish didn’t even have mini-golf. I love ropes courses and surf riders, etc. NCL had lots of things to do, but they didn’t have movies at night outside like Carnival and Princess. But Princess and Royal had boring nighttime entertainment…
VARIETY is the best! I am so happy to have choices!
