And when do you show up to stake your spot?
There are many spots that you can walk up to at the last minute around Japan, Morocco, Canada, France, China, etc. Mexico is pretty crowded but doable.
If you can arrive 30-45 minutes early, you can get a decent spot head on facing the stargate from the future world side. Just keep an eye out for speakers and other obstructions. Should be clear where not to stand by about 60 min before.

My favorite spot (haven’t tried all of them!) is between Japan & American Adventure.

I agree with @Jeff_AZ, right in the middle of the Futureworld side. I arrived about 25 mins before the show in July and had a good view.
