Third, I looked at same-day availability of the rides in each park at various times during the day, and what ends up being available AFTER I use my FPs we are likely to get in the second step. I then add those that are likely to be same-day FP selections.

This is pretty much what I did when planning our MK day TP. I left most likely to be 4th FPed stuff for the afternoon and then just tried to make sure I had time to do all the priority items as we worked our way through. I did miss some of the little details because I was looking at my phone, but I was ok with it since it was mostly just the one day. And most FP lines aren’t that interesting anyway.

For Epcot, I was counting on 4th FP for Soarin and gave myself a large window to find it. (3rd FP done by 1 and I was hoping for 5 pm or so on Soarin.)
