Would you rather......?

I need some help figuring out a HS/EP day.

Background:

just DS24 and I at dolphin. 2 day trip. Second day is sun 3/22 at HS/EP. Will get LLMP and LLSP.

Son’s priorities:

EP: GotG (maybe going for two rides), SE, and Remy. Otherwise wandering WS because on full family trips everyone is impatient and he doesn’t get to explore.

HS: Exploring GE and Fantasmic. I’d love to pull off a SDD LL.

So - would you

1- RD EP for GotG ride #1, spend the day there until maybe 3ish then hop to HS? My concern about this is he really wants WS time and this limits us since they open late. And GE is crowded later which limits chill exploration. And I don’t love GE in the dark because my eyes are old.

2-RD HS to explore GE before the crowds hit, hop to EP by lunchtime, hop back late evening for maybe a late SDD (fingers crossed) and second Fantasmic.

3- They both stink and we should abandon Fantasmic and just do HS early and hop to EPCOT for the rest of the day/eve.

I would do HS first, then EP with an LLSP for GotG if I had the money. Then head back to HS for Fantasmic. The only downside is having to go through security a total of 4 times.

However, take my advice with a grain of salt because I can’t ride GotG, would never buy LLs, and don’t really care for Fantasmic.

I would get a sense from DS about how much of a priority F! is and decide based on that.

Generally I think squeezing it in disrupts the flow of the day, but if it’s a priority then you make it work.

Regardless I think, because of the WS late open issue you cite, starting at HS is best. Remy on the way in, a then make your way around WS. Hit guardians with LLSP after Mexico. This has the added benefit of taking advantage of lower afternoon/evening crowds in Future World or whatever it’s called since it generally quiets down later in the day and SE would likely be a walk-on. You could do that and the hit the guardians line for the second ride at end of night.

I agree with starting at DHS. Explore GE and then hop to Epcot, with Remy pre-booked, along with SE. Do Remy, wander World Showcase the long way round. Do Guardians with an LLSP booked for around 6/7* ish, and SE. Finish WS with Canada & the UK.

If Fantasmic is a priority, head back aiming for whenever the first showing is. Try for Slinky during the first F! show, grab some food and see the second show.

  • Time the Guardians LLSP and the other LLs to allow for hopping back to DHS if that’s what you plan to do.
  • If not then the timing could be later and get back in line for Guardians during the evening show.

This is what I would do. I would get LLMP for MFSR - should be easy to get for the morning. Then you can see what you can get for EP (which won’t be much). Make sure you leave a spot for SDD on a drop - it might be easier to do the first drop (1:17pm), but if you want to ride at night, it will need to be the 3:47pm drop and use the extended grace period.

I like how you work F! in if it is a priority. Definitely doable

This does have it’s advantages. If you’re really only going to stay at HS for a couple hours, I would do this. Seems like you really only have 2 must do rides that need LLMP, other than SDD (which you will have to pick up on a drop regardless). MFSR should be easy at rope drop. A Remy LL will be most valuable.

And they could book LLSP for Rise if they want, allowing 2-3 hrs for exploring GE.

I keep thinking and your priorities make this really tough. Just to talk this through …

Theoretically, you could use SDD as your pre-book. For Day 8, only evening times are usually available. But this locks you out of Tier 1 for either MFSR or Remy until you tap in. Remy usually has availability until 10am or so, so if you had a LL for 9am right after you RD MFSR, you might be able to pick it up. But there’s a risk it would be for a time you want to be heading back to HS.

If you don’t go back to DHS you could book Slinky and the Falcon on LLMP and then do the single rider for Remy if you can’t pick up an LL for it.

Oh yes! I always forget about this.

I was going to recommend but not sure how op feels about SR on trip with DS

Is this the convo I had where the Liner let me know their DS was a full-grown adult? That does slightly change the connotation.

LOL no - was not referencing any previous conversations. I just know that - regardless of age - sometimes people don’t prefer to do single rider when traveling with others.

That is true, but definitely more so when with a child.

The priorities do make this tough!

I’d like to do SDD (DS will humor me) but I am thinking of it more as a bonus if I can luck out and grab one that randomly drops. Fully aware that my chances are slim but also aware that they are zero if my plan is to just do first half of the day at HS and not return. So I thought I should include it in the mix while I’m making Liners figure this out for me

This sounds like a good plan. Just makes sense to do Remy as we walk in at IG. Usually we are RDing it so this is a different kind of plan for me. Also doesn’t lock us in so if wandering WS runs long and we don’t want to hop again we can get that second GotG ride in at park close and skip F!

I love your willingness to help even though you’d actually do none of this!

I do like this plan. My WS brain works in that direction anyways. We are Mexico last people (the horror!) because since the dawn of time I have had to have a Grey Goose slushie immediately upon seeing the Eiffel tower.
