So, World Showcase opens at 11:00. But what I’m wondering is what does it mean to be open?
Reason I’m asking is because I’m playing with an alternate plan that has us focusing on World Showcase sooner, which puts us at Canada at 10:45. Now, I presume we can’t go into anything, but can we at least walk the grounds outside? Due to the fact we are doing a one-day Epcot visit, much of the World Showcase will be a “drive by”…just looking as we make our way around. (And, hey…where I live, I can drive into Canada in 45 minutes for real if I wanted!)
There have been questions about this in the past, the answers are unclear to me.
Is it just that we can’t enter the buildings themselves? I think we’d hit the UK by 11:00.
a lot of the kiosks and point of sale areas don’t open right away, some not until 12 noon. I’m not sure if they have hard hours or it’s just sort of when they get there they get there.
I seem to recall that the “garden” path to the right is blocked off, but it’s very possible they will start opening up at 10:45. I think you may be able to do a bit of a drive by. You definitely can in France or Norway!
We were in Mexico just prior to 11 on our trip and there was a little bit of a “rope drop” line before they opened that pavilion but that one is different being indoors.
You could literally walk past, but all you’ll see is the Chateau and the totem poles from the promenade path. Whereas you’ll miss the waterfall path, the views from the vantage point and the beautiful gardens.
You may also have to explain to a CM that you’re going to the International Gateway to be allowed to walk from FW “into” WS at that time. 99% of people there will be coming from the IG to FW.
I’m not sure how long term an issue this is, but on 22nd Oct during normal afternoon hours almost all of Canada was roped off as closed for renovations, I assume related to the OC closure but with a lot more than just the show inaccessible. Could have just been that day - but see yellow bar on the map for an indication of how little we could access!
