Will Trade: Random Covid Info for Targeted WDW/UOR Info (aka Land of a Gabillion Silly Questions)

sorry if this has been answered already: I just watched a DFB yesterday addressing this… They said anyone can order off the kids menu and I have and do for smaller portion sizes. With a MO it’s easy too. I tried Bao Buns at Satu’li in HS at child portion and glad I did b/c it was awful, I would have felt guilty throwing away more food w/ an adult portion.

I added a night at Kidani on my June trip. Generally lower floors are better. Those hallways are long but my request for June is one of those long hallways in a room I stayed in before because I loved the view. On the TP room finder there is a public comment about the room I picked that the neighbors were loud but that was not my experience.

I am considering Sanaa dinner take out and dinner on my balcony. You will have a car?

If you are trying for a Sanaa ADR I would say 7 latest. They often run late.

We have stayed in Kidani twice. The first time I do not remember our room but it was way in the Pumba section and literally took us 10 minutes to walk from our room to the lobby. The last time we were in room 7606 which was a 30 second walk to the lobby and amazing. Both times we had a view of the Sunset Savanna so I can’t really compare between the two but Sunset was amazing. It is so peaceful to sit out there and sip a cup of coffee as the sun rises.

We’ve never stayed in a studio there. The first time we were in a 2 bedroom and in a 1 bedroom the last time. I really like the TP room finder tool. It has room view pictures that have been very helpful to me in determining which location/view I’d most prefer. View of Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village

We’ve never stayed in Jambo but plan to in May. I’m pretty excited about it!

Yes, the savanna is amazing, but had I known the animals would only be out during business hours, I would’ve built more room time into the trip. Great way to spend a midday break, but during most of them I was either under a napping child that would wake if I moved, or having solo adventures while the babysitter hung w kids.

You can’t beat the magic of walking out on your balcony to “amils!” as DD would say, but if you’re not gonna be in the room during business hours, it’s not worth the upcharge

When I did my room request I didn’t really think of this because I’m like it’s not in a separate building so how bad can it be?! But it was a longggggg walk on tired feet. Def would’ve stayed closer to lobby in hindsight

I’ve stayed in that wing of Kidani and you do NOT want to be at the end of the hall-- it is a hike. Aim for midway down and that gives you quick access to the pool.

I’ve stayed on both wings – the advantage of the other one is quicker walk to Jambo if you like to do that (we do)

And I’ve stayed with views of both Sunset and Pembe. Pembe is sweet, but it has limited animals, I think no giraffes or zebra

Some animals are out all night but some do seem to leave the savanna in the evening and reappear in the morning

On Sanaa, it is a very tough ADR to get – if you do not, you can order take out, or eat in the lounge with a partial menu, but you won’t have a view of the animals

On the pools, the Jambo pool was open full hours (10am to 10pm, I think?) when I was there last week, but food and drink services were limited

How do you request Jambo if booked in Kidani? call, on the TP request? we are booked in Kadani but loved Jambo House a few years ago.

When you book through Disney I don’t know that there’s crossover to where you can request Jambo if you booked Kidani. I think @amvanhoose_701479’s uncertainty is due to the way her reservation was assigned through David’s DVC rentals.

I tend to agree. My favorite room was a pool view we had on our first stay there. It was not far from the lobby, near to the elevator (and thus the laundry, pool, and Mara) and just diagonally across our hallway was one of the observation porches with rockers, as well as a large plate glass window that looked out onto the savanna.

We also have a favorite room that is a pool view and super near to the bus stop, but no savanna nearby on that one

You cannot. You would have to call and see if you can change your booking from Kidani to Jambo

It wasn’t always. I hope it will go back to being reasonably easy. With limited dining options at the Lodge I think folks are going here who wouldn’t have before.

Did you link the reservation into MDE? That should tell you.

Yes, and also, word has gotten out. I had no trouble getting ADRs there as late as through Dec 2019. But too many people have reported on how great it is :upside_down_face:

You know, like another Greatest Place near there that used to be a Special Secret…

Yes. Very much just like that :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

This is why we can’t have nice things.

I have been checking and availability for take out at Sanaa seems to be good.

How do you feel about pickles and mustard? People seem to either love or hate those cheeseburger bao buns, and those 2 ingredients tend to be divisive in other dishes, so I’m curious if that’s the issue. (DH adores them. I avoid at all costs.)

I remember this from Jambo house too! With it only being one night of the trip (and not a park day), it’s less of a concern, but I will keep in mind.

This seems to be the key difference. Hopefully we get at least one on the Sunset side.

Yes

Noted. Ty!

Both times we’ve stayed at AKL before we had infants (DS16 at 7 months and DS11 twins at 9 months) so did midday breaks most days. Luckily they would sleep on their own or in our arms while we sat on the balcony. Hopefully we can roll in shortly after checkin and we’ll stay on site past checkout, so hopefully get full enjoyment. If the wait for Sanaa breakfast is too long (or the animals are at our rooms anyway), we’ll get it to go.

Ah, I’ll see if I can figure out how to do that…

This is a long thread already, and I haven’t looked through it at all. I’m sure you’re getting good answers. Just wanted to say that some fellow Texans will be there at the same time. That would be me, DW, DS6, DS4, and DD2. DW is still going back and forth on the value of going now versus waiting a year. But I need my Disney fix after this horrible year. Our plan is 5/28-6/6 (ish) with 6-7 nts @ AoA and 2-3 nts @ CR (or BLT). The final plan is still very fuzzy, and I’m booking ADRs for like 2-3 different contingency plans. For those of you who have followed me in the past, this should not be a surprise. Plans should get buttoned up in the next few weeks though based on work/school schedules and vaccine rollout. However, when I called WDW to ask about something, and they saw my strangely overlapping AoA/CR/BLT reservations they really gave me a hard time. I was very put off by their attitude. Anyways. Happy planning! Maybe we will see each other!

y’all are starting to make me have Liner Meet FOMO. We leave 5/24 and seemingly miss everyone.

Well stay longer:smile:. Easy fix.

When I get a few of my logistics ironed out, I’ll set us up a Google sheet to fill in with dates and parks because my head is spinning with who is where and when! It’s going to be fun to put faces with the screen names!
