Every 3 to 4 days.
Agree with this
I would arrive/resort on day 1, parks on days 2, 3, and 4, resort on day 5, parks on day 6, 7, 8, break on 9, park on 10 and 11, resort/depart
If going to water park on day 1 then: arrive/water park, park, park, resort, park, park, resort, park, park, resort, park, resort/depart
Adding that if you’re staying in a deluxe, DVC or DVC rental, and plan to visit a park during the extra evening hours, you may want a resort day the next day. The EE could keep you in the park until midnight.
That won’t apply to us but is a very good point!
I went with your plan. I was struggling with whether to go 4 days then a break or put 2 days in the middle. Never considered leaving 2 days at the end.
Four days in a row is too many days for me anymore. And it becomes a slog rather than an enjoyable experience. Especially with the heat of summer (and especially in August)
We’re arriving the same day! ![]()
But only 4 nights for us.
I think @OBNurseNH’s suggestion makes the most sense. And her point about August heat is real. We went in early September in 2024, and wow, we felt like we were walking around in an oven. We strategically planned each park day based on paths that kept us in A/C as much as possible. For example, on our DHS day, we entered the park, walked through the gift shops, then exited long enough to head over to the theatre to watch the Mickey short, and then walk over to the Hyperion (?) theatre to watch Frozen, and then walk over to Star Tours, etc.
We went in August 2022 and went 6 straight days and no midday breaks. It was way too brutal and I never want to do that again.
I like your strategy of walking through stores for AC!
Depends on the ages and stamina of your party. If we’re doing full park days, I need a break every 2-3 days. Usually we get full-stay tickets with park hoppers so I can pop back to the room for a nap and the hoppers allow me to do whichever park I have the stamina for at the time.
as someone who favors longer trips and traditionally uses one park per day tickets, I like a break every 2-3 days. I like the first day of a chunk of park days to be AK, because it opens earlier and closes earlier.
With 8 days are you doing each park twice?
You know, this is never occurred to me! But it’s a really good approach, especially for those who might start the vacation as early risers and long for later sleep the further into the trip they get. I’m going to tuck this away for future use!
Earlier this year it dawned on me I have spent a few Mother’s Days at AK. Then I realized most of the time our trips start on Saturday (arrival day) and since we go to AK first park day, we usually are at AK on a Sunday! And since we like to travel in May…
We are almost always RD to close people, so I have appreciated the early closing of AK to help us get a decent night’s sleep before our longer & later days at MK, HS and EP. That AK RD can come pretty early in the AM if you are up late the night before.
On a week-long trip I like a break day after every 2 park days.
Yes, that is the plan.
AK at the beginning of a stretch makes sense. I was putting it at the end but I think your way may be better.
Two days on, one day off. My last trip we did four full park days in a row and it wasn’t great. I also just got back from a ski trip and I didn’t take my own advice. Three days in a row and everything hurts.
