So I am new at this, I bought the touring plans and have put in the rides we want to do and optimized it so they give us estimate of time and what order. when I go to purchase the lightening lane passes, do I request the time they gave me on the plans? How do I figure out what time to request or will I just be lucky to get any time at all? I am staying in the park, so will try to get times right away at 7am 7 days prior.

I pick my highest priority rides and reserve them for as early as possible. At DHS I choose Slinky Dog, TSMM, and ToT. For MK, I personally choose Jungle Cruise but others may choose Peter Pan or Tiana, and Haunted Mansion and Pooh as my second tier rides.
I don’t get LL for Epcot or AK as we can rope drop those and hit what we want. However Epcot priorities as far as selling our first are Frozen or Remy for Tier 1. AK has no tiers but Navi and Safari would be the first to sell out.
There are some rides that are harder to get lightning lanes for even in advance. If those are rides you want, I would prioritize those first and if you don’t get it plan to ride first thing (rope drop) or at the end of the day (assuming it is a ride that gets long waits). Some are easier to get the day you are there so I would not book those in advance. As an example, on our recent trip we booked Tower of Terror, Rockin’ Roller Coaster, and Toy Story. We then rope-dropped Slinky Dog and did the rest of Toy Story with minimal waits. When we checked in at Tower and Rockin’ we picked up lightning lanes for Millenium Falcon and started booking at the park we were going to after (picking up Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris).
