Wheelchairs and the like

One of our party (she is 16) had to have an unexpected foot surgery this morning which happens to be exactly 16 days before we leave. She will be in a walking cast but the amount we will be doing is will be too much and we will need something else. According to the Disney website she is too young for a motorized scooter thing…is that age limit similar to other rental places? Would the best thing to do just be rent a regular wheelchair? How would this affect the waiting in lines? We have never had to deal with something like this before so we are not quite sure what the best course of action is…

Magic Kingdom has a couple little slopes, specifically near Splash Mountain that makes it a little harder to push, but other than that its really not too bad pushing someone around, especially if you take turns in your group. We had to push my sister around, we took turns and it was fine. But I would look into an outside company if you are even a little unsure that you will be able to push her around. Different companies probably have different age limits.
