What shoes do you recommend for 6 and 7 year old girls for walking? Should we get waterproof shoes?
If they are walking, I’d get the most comfortable sneakers you can find. something they’ve worn before and been comfortable in.

DD has worn Sketchers Go Walks or their pull-on trainers (the ones with elastic not laces) from that age onwards. Never had a problem with her feet, and happily covers 6+ miles a day.
Waterproof is probably overkill, unless it’s raining buckets. They tend to be less breathable and make feet hot and sweaty. Depending on when you’re going it will probably very hot and waterproof is no fun in hot weather. Already in the mid-80s and it’s only May.
