Waterpark Fans: Tell me your favorite

I’m heading to WDW a week from today and will be taking full advantage of the free water park entry on check-in day. I have a triple split stay so I’ll get 2.5 days to enjoy them! I’ve never been to either and I’m quite excited to check them out!

As a novice, I have some questions.

For a solo adult, for each water park tell me your favorite:

  • place to snag a chair in the shade - bonus points for screenshot of map with area circled
  • place to get a good cocktail
  • place to grab a bite to eat (could be a snack, could be a meal)
  • slide ride

Also, which one of the two would be best for arrival day, when I won’t probably get there til between 1230-1

I’ve been watching a bunch of videos on youtube the past few days and I’m getting some ideas but I want to know from a pro who has been there/done that the best way to enjoy my time!

What I’m excited about is that we get to choose! It’s almost like the before times!!!

I can’t answer your questions, though. I’ve only ever been to BB. DH and I stayed on the lazy river the entire time, and I never drink and swim (no judgment for those that do, just a personal thing).

I’m looking forward to trying out TL!

Honestly i always seem to gravitate toward Typhoon Lagoon my solo trips it’s usually the only one open…I do love chilling in the lazy river there it was a great place to hang out and wait when the 2pm hopping restriction was in-place.

So I prefer Typhoon Lagoon but have only really gone with my kids so solo you can probably not go wrong.

Here is where we got seating. I know I stole it from another Liner but I cannot recall, I’m sorry! It’s basically by the entrance to Misadventure Falls.

#17 is the bar with the dole whips if I remember but 19/20/21 had a bigger drink selection.

My two trips last year I sat by 15 - Low Tide Louie’s. There may or may not be shade if you are arriving late BUT finding room for one is easier than 3-4.

It’s near rest rooms - but far from lockers.
There are a number of slides very close, and it is close to the walk-through behind the wave pool to other slides.

Slide wise, I enjoyed 3, 4, 5, 6, 8. I also liked 7, but you will get a wedging, clear your nostrils, or both. I’m -meh- on Lazy River. I went around 1-2 times each time. I was happy to have it as an option when I went with a broken foot!

We ate at 13 and had a huge salad. Johana had nachos.

15 also has adult beverages - but I didn’t try any there. I was looking for special TL-only flavors of Dole Whips. I accidentally, went to 17 which had alcohol Dole Whips.

There’s a lot more walking at BB. And I felt refreshments were more easily, quickly obtained at TL.

For a few trips we went to lounge chairs in the shade at Ketchakiddie Creek - a toddler area and they are so fun to watch. One trip we decided we didn’t really want lounges and got a sheltered picnic table which we thoroughly enjoyed. Especially when it started raining. Right beside the upper parts of the wave pool. I see now the roofs have been modified, the picnic tables removed and there’s now a charge for the “shacks”.

We pretty muchly always went to Leaning Palms for food and you know I’m not doing alcohol much these days.

Oh that’s the one area that is an absolutely not from me. It’s right by the kiddie area and in every video is teeming with littles (as it should be).

Your foods look delicious!!!

Dole whips with alcohol are a yes

Now I have to look! I never saw kiddie zone.

It looked quiet over by 16, but I can’t speak to shade.

FYI mobile ordering works there.

Hopefully due to unrelated incidents.

It’s been many years since we visited either water park, but I do remember liking TL better. It seemed like a more relaxed environment than BB (which at the time, I had the impression that the slides and such were more thrill-like and geared to teenagers. Not sure if this is still the case). We reserved an umbrella and lounge chairs not too far from the wave pool. It was nice to be able to just wade into the edge of the wave pool to cool off.

I have heard these very things about BB v TL: BB is thrill, TL is chill. And it holds up, since the tallest slide at BB is 12 stories tall and the tallest at TL is 5 stories tall.

I’d also consider which theming appeals to you more. For a solo trip, I’d want relaxed vibes, which to me means the tropical vegetation of TL. All the white fiberglass “snow” at BB doesn’t spell a nice relaxing day to me.

That’s fair. I’ll be doing both over the course of my stay so I’m mainly trying to nail down which one to start with. Maybe I can wait and see how the day is hitting: if I’m feeling lazy and sleepy after an early morning flight TL might be just the thing
