Water Park Prep

You all have me wishing I had time on our arrival day to go to the waterpark next month (never been to a Disney one) but our 3 night schedule is already jam packed.

I like that but I like the idea of being able to tie my stuff to a chair (thus securing my chair as well) a bit more for this use case

I ordered the charcoal water socks.

I believe @darkmite2 reported VB confiscated his locks on one of his trips. I think they don’t like stuff getting attached to their chairs. Not sure if Disney cares about this.

I still think that I got a “fussy” security TM that day!

It was unlocked. They said the metal latch could be a “weapon”… I could swing it around like a Morning Star.:roll_eyes: :rofl:

I bet if I have it locked shut so the metal end is secured they won’t notice.

Whenever I get back to VB I am going to try again.

They did give it back to me when I left, at the end of the day, so it wasn’t like it was completely taken away.

I’m trying to get Gregg to go to the water park the day we arrive. I’ve even set up a hotel halfway there so we’d have a couple of hours at the park. I want to go to TL this time since we went to BB last time we went.

Does anyone have a strong recommendation (or link to any discussion) on which of the two parks to choose for someone who’s never been to a Disney water park? I may be going in the first week of July with my two daughers (8 and 10), they love water slides and would be excited about both water coasters and family raft rides. They’ve never done a wave pool or a lazy river.

I’ve been watching videos about Typhoon Lagoon because I thought that would be our only choice (and thought it looked fun), but now that I know both parks will be open, should I also consider Blizzard Beach? I am assuming we’ll be very happy with either as we have no comparison or particular expectation, but would be curious is anyone has strong recommendations either way.

Becky G has a great TP article in the last week or so comparing the two. It’s worth a read!

In the olden days before the great unpleasantness, when both parks were open, you could park hop on the same ticket IIRC. I never did it (I’ve never been to a WDW waterpark either!) but I recall a podcast episode in which the hosts did that. So if that’s still a thing when both are open soon, maybe that? One in the morning and one later in the day?

Awesome, thanks so much! Still can’t decide after a first-read through (mainly cause my vote would be for relaxed vibes at TL, but I know both kids would vote for thrills at BB) - but this will help me reflect on it a bit more  And the great news is that they both sound like a lot of fun, so there isn’t really a wrong answer.

Oooh, interesting thought. But on this occasion, our check in day would be the day we disembark our cruise (at Port Caneveral), and we’ll head to the resort first to drop off bags, so most likely will just stick to one for time/logistical ease. And to have an excuse to come back to experience the other at another time - especially if they extend the free arrival day benefit into 2026!

I have a smaller version of this. I use it at the beach and when boating.

Last summer TL was our option with kids from 11 to 17 and they loved it. The wave pool is perfect for the adventurers and there are enough slides for the action oriented too. It was a great balance of chill and fun. Plus they have an awesome dole whip boat dish that I keep thinking about!

Interesting quote capture there

We LOVED Typhoon Lagoon and I thought there was a lot of thrills. The wave pool is pretty thrilling if you go out deep!

For sure.

I went to TL twice last year and once in 2022 and it was highly active.

This.

I haven’t been to BB in decades, but from what I recall, I like the vibe of TL better. Trying both out seems like the only option. Just a matter of which one you’ll try first. :man_shrugging:

I don’t know if this was intentional but she accidentally gave the correct answer.

Volcano Bay is the best water park in Orlando. :dizzy:

Haha. Very much agree. VB is amazing. Had low expectations about TL so we were pleasantly surprised.
