Hello! Question re: waitlisting strategy for DVC… here goes:
We are looking to book three separate rooms (two studios and a 1-BR, ideally, but possibly three studios if the 1BR doesn’t come through)
Keith (@Keith718) got his studio somehow, but I couldn’t nab one for us or one for my mom, even though I hit book at 8am on the dot!
Right now I have two rooms waitlisted– a Deluxe Studio-Resort View and a Tower - Deluxe Studio - Resort View.
However! It looks, based on the little chart thingy below, it looks like it might be better to waitlist the preferred view, rather than the resort view?
Will I dramatically lower my chances if I cancel my current waitlist and replace it with the below?
Any other tips or tricks? Should I just call member services? Thank you, friends! Looking forward to going ‘home’ in seven short months…
IIRC, you can have two waitlists at a time. If you don’t have a second already in place, then you shouldn’t have to replace it. (Although, it sounds like you DO have two waitlisted, so uh…nevermind.)
In general, though, if similar rooms have higher point costs, they tend to have more availability because people like saving their points.
How many nights do you need? I would keep the waitlist for what you really want for right now. People may be walking and I have been watching studios for my trip and there is generally a LOT of movement in Poly studios. I think you can get what you want with some persistence. The 1-bedroom may be harder as I do not think there are a lot.
Four nights – 11/7-14. It does look like people are walking… I just want to make sure I’m prioritizing the category that will give me the highest chance of success, but I can’t tell which one that would be because there are SO many Poly categories. Aah!
I think it will be the old/original standard studios and the lake view studios. I actually think that the the tower studios are in higher demand. I would replace your tower studio waitlist with a preferred view studio. And keep checking on both. You may have to pick up night by night which will mean continuing the edit the waitlist unless you have points to play with.
