Wait times at Pirates of the Caribbean

Can anyone explain the sudden increase in wait times at POC? We have been to Disney many times in August and have never waited more than 10 minutes for POC with no FP. This year the line was consistently long with posted wait times of 40 minutes and actual wait times of 25-30 minutes. What happened?
