Universal Games and 2.0 Wands

I’ve been reading the TouringPlans website as if it were the Unofficial book, since that isn’t available yet. This had been mentioned in a recent blog post. You can rent power-bands and wands. On the power-bands, we could theoretically get around the same price ($15) by buying them used and then selling them. But at this moment renting sounds pretty good.

I have been looking into this quite a bit! One thing I noticed on the rental site is that the bands have earned keys on them. Meaning they haven’t cleared out the activities already completed. That was a concern for us in purchasing used bands. We did end up buying some that were cleared off. But in my reading, I saw that it may no longer be as easy to reset the bands. It sounds like you could go to the 1up store and ask them to be reset. But people in Hollywood were having trouble getting it done. I haven’t read any accounts from Orlando. It doesn’t necessarily matter. You can still play the games. But you won’t be starting from zero. After I learned about it, I noticed those details on the rental site about what was on each band already.

I hadn’t noticed that. That really stinks. What good are the bands if you can’t be playing your own game? My understanding is that you can play the games without the bands (except for that last thingy). It is just without the bands you can’t connect to the app, but if you aren’t playing your own games then connecting to the app wouldn’t matter.

If we can’t reset, we’ll probably just get one for daughter. Us parents will follow along.

Today when I looked, I did see a few with no keys. Maybe they get new ones? I agree that it’s not as much fun when you know the score is not completely yours. I’m assuming there are coins on there too. We just got one for each kid as well We’ll help them earn the coins and keys etc. It sounds like some of the games are easier with more than one person anyway.

@darkmite2 Did they ever say which store it was? Even knowing Goodwill or Salvation Army will help.

I don’t mind driving around and checking a few of the stores. Main trouble is, it is dangerous. DD can find lots of really cute clothes in a Good Will/ Salvation Army. She likes clothes, her mommy likes a bargain. Trouble is, her bedroom is looking like a really large closet. If we have to drive around I’ll give her a budget, but it would be nicer to narrow down the places to look.
