Happy to hear you’re feeling better! Smart of you to make yourself a schedule.
It’s not perfect, but when I catch myself feeling driftless or I’ve been looking at job postings too long I can refer to it. It really controls any anxiety I get - which isn’t too much.
I get up and exercise. Then do some outdoor chores before it gets too hot.
I job search for at least 3 hours. Often I get “lost” and it’s 4+.
Then I become a “home maker” around 4pm and get dinner started and such.
I try to exercise in the evenings too. I used to walk so much at work. The heat has been brutal for 2 weeks. I can’t go out until almost 7pm!! ![]()
Very happy to hear this.
The total release from a schedule is good some days of “detoxing” from any whirlwinds in life, like you’ve most certainly experienced. But then yea, it gets stir crazy and structure is good.
So I’m so glad you’re finding it. And for everything else, I’ll go jump on over to the new thread to chit-chat up ![]()
Hey!!
This is a “Larry Update” rather than anything else…
Well.. I have good news and bad news! Plus, more good (???) news…
Good news - I accepted a job offer. I was very fortunate as after the first week of applying to jobs I had at least one, if not two, interviews each week. The process was tedious and frustrating at times. However, I never felt the struggles I see online about people spending months without any calls or interviews. Having 16 years’ experience at one place opened a lot of doors for me.
I turned down two offers and got to the finalist stage with one that turned me down.
I actually still have one organization that I’m supposed to be told if I’m a finalist any day now. It’s a dream job that I will have to figure out what I will do if they call me.
However, this job made me a good offer, and I went with a “bird in the hand” rather than hoping.
Bad News - It’s, basically, the exact same job that I was burned out doing. It’s crazy how identical everything is.., Not only are the job duties exactly the same, but so is the building floorplan, building color scheme and even my salary. (I suspect they asked my former employer what my salary was.)
I used to complain so much about how bored I was, and this new job is the same. I’m on day two and I’m already fully trained and bored. I say the job duties are the same, but there’s actually less responsibility.
The more good (???) news… I have all the time to be back on here all day while being paid. I already started posting Grinchmas stuff today and doing more research into other UOR happening
So… I’m back!
I only have 10 PTO days for the next couple years compared to the 3 weeks I had accrued previously. I’ll have to make tough decisions about travel dates.
I will be going to FanFest at USH in 2026…
It looks like DD23 will be going as well. We had to cancel our HHN trip this year because she needed knee surgery. She just had the procedure last week. Her prognosis is 3 - 6 weeks to full recovery! She is thrilled to go to not only USH but I’m taking her to DLR for her first visit too!!
Fingers crossed neither of us gets hurt before May!!

Congrats on the new job! If the dream job comes through, you should take it! Why wouldn’t you??
I completely will! The issue is that I would need to go do one last in-person meeting with the dream job. I’d have to “call in sick” or something to this new place. I would still want to keep this job until I 100% knew I had an offer from the competitor. I hate having to be sneaky as the people at the new job have been incredibly nice.
I’ve already made a handful of theme park friends here. A couple of them love UOR and one just got back from HHN! Having people to talk to about this stuff IRL has been great… ![]()
You “have an important previously scheduled doctor appointment that can’t be rescheduled.”
They know my DD23 had knee surgery last week. I used that as a way to delay my start date until yesterday. I’m probably going to use that as an excuse if needed…

“She needs a follow up” or “she fell last night and needs an immediate appointment!”
Congrats on the new job!
I hate to be ungrateful to my new employer and I know I’ve only been here 3 days, but this job is even more dull than my last.
Here is the list of ALL the duties that I am responsible for. How am expected to fill a 9 hour day??? I am so bored I actually have a migraine from doing nothing.
I’m paid $50K annually and this is all I’m expected to do… ![]()

By all means, notify Kathy if Pat has packages
. Oh my goodness.
My title is Office Coordinator/Administrative Assistant. I am, basically, a receptionist / security guard. It’s not what I was told the job was during interviews. I was told I would be working in HR and be the Office Manager
At least my old job didn’t use a web blocker. I have to use my phone to browse anything
I noticed item 4 should be “Accept,” not “Except.”
Not looking good for them.
Yeah… I noticed that afterwards as well!! ![]()
If it’s that bad, maybe look for something else! 3 days isn’t enough to really even make a bridge, let alone burn it.
Yeah… I wound up getting a migraine from boredom. I went home miserable and and did nothing but complain for at least 3 hours. I didn’t sleep much last night as I was dreading coming into today to do nothing… I’ve been up since 4am…
I am in the office and within 15 minutes completed all my tasks. I asked my supervisor for anything I could do today and got nothing. He gave me a “pep talk” about how we get the last two week of the year off with pay as the offices close for the holidays.
I wanted to scream, “I don’t care!! That’s 3 months away!! Help me NOW!!”
I think I’lm going to spend the morning typing up my resignation. I don’t see this getting better…
It’s day 4. I’d have half a mind to just grab my stuff and leave🤦
I know…I’m too much of a people pleaser. Besides, I’m already here..traffic will be an issue for another hour or so!

I’m home. It wasn’t a hard decision, but I will miss a couple of people I met. I did stop by one guy’s office to give him my socials. He totally understood why I was going. I was told by multiple people today that the position was a “dead end.”
Thanks for all the support Friends! I’ll be putting up my Halloween yard display this weekend, but will try to get back to being on TP routinely. I have enjoyed being involved with our all our Liner friend’s current TRs!
I found out today that I didn’t get the dream job. It was working at St. Jude. I was down to the final three people. One person had a little experience working in a medical office and that was the tie breaker.
I have applied for two other positions there. I was very impressed with the organization. Plus, it would be great to do meaningful work.
Fortunately, I am not desperate for income and can be a little picky right now ![]()
