Thank you so much for this wonderful trip report. The level of detail (and your honesty) were great to read. You have lovely children.
Ok final thoughts finally.
- This was our first long trip with PHs (we did have them last October for a 2 day trip) and I totally recommend them. It felt like we were able to utilize FPs better overall - prebooking in parks where they felt more needed and leaving parks like Epcot and HS to rely on SD drops. We were able to visit each park multiple times which made me feel like we got a good taste of them all.
- This was the first time I’ve been super intentional and deliberate about mid-day breaks because of the heat. I was worried that taking breaks from 1-5 most days would limit our ability to get much done but it didn’t at all. Plus it really helped the kids weather the early days + 9 park days in a row knowing they’d have an hour or two to rest each day.
- I really want to take a solo trip. Or an adult only trip. I just think it’d be such a different feel and it would be nice not having to stress about staying out too late or being up too early because of kids’ energy levels wearing out. DH has told me he can’t see how anyone would go to WDW without kids and probably wouldn’t be interested at all.
I’m thinking maybe I’ll try and plan a trip during F&W next year with my mom and my sister.
- I didn’t buy the dining plan this time around or during our trip in February. We had the DDP for our first family trip in January ‘18 and felt like all we did was eat and decided I’d rather not have one at all because it felt like too much of a hassle. This trip I tracked our food expenses to the penny and I think it’d maybe be worth our while to go with the standard DP next time. I don’t think we came out loads behind paying OOP but do think it would possible save us a couple hundred bucks.
- Both EMM events we attended are 100% worth the money for us. I’d do both of them again in a heartbeat.
- Traveling solo with the kids was a blast!! I would totally do it again. I’ve even thought how fun it’d be to also take them each individually to be able to do all of their favorites the whole time. Since we’ve got such a herd of children they have to compromise all of the time. Which is good for them to do of course but it’d be fun to treat each of them to their own thing one day.
I think that’s all I’ve got for now. I’m already missing this magical place. Thanks to all of you for following along with our adventures!!
We actually had a MV driver who had spent time working at GS tell us that often the managers would offer people less than the original cast member did. I think as a way to have the CMs backs? So I didn’t attempt anything to go up the ladder.
I had wondered if maybe the front stick was slightly higher or the ground was perhaps a bit uneven there.
Thank you!!! All in all it was a great day!
Thank you so much. We feel so lucky to have all of them. I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for following along!!
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for this (and your previous) trip report. Your tips and tricks definitely helped make our recent vacation more magical. I am also in complete awe of how you calmly managed more children than you have hands! I did one rope drop with my two kids and without my husband and was petrified I’d lose them in the crush.
Thanks again!
Lol! The more kids than hands thing always stresses me out. My niece, who is 13, was a huge help. I often walked with my son and DD5 and she would walk behind us with DD8.
And I don’t know if the kids would describe me as calm the whole time. In fact, I know they wouldn’t! But if I’ve learned anything having 4 babies in 5 years it’s that sometimes when the day feels overwhelming you just put your head down and do the next thing. One to-do item at a time. Sometimes that helps keep my crazy at bay.
I’m so glad you learned some helpful tips from my report! I’d love to see you write one! Glad you and your family had a successful trip!
The soup at Boma in particular is heaven.
