My DxH is 5 out of 6 siblings and hated sharing. I always thought it was scarcity of resources when he was young. I would want to taste his food and he would tell me I should have ordered one for myself. Well, I didn’t want a whole one, just a taste!
(Not why he is DxH instead of DH, however, just to be clear! )

We actually get along pretty well, but I’ve had to work really hard at that. Early on I realized that he would be in my life forever like it or not. It helps that his behavior is mostly self-destructive, rather than abusive towards me or the kids. I totally get why some people cannot have a good relationship with their ex and that it’s not healthy to even try.

Mine was abusive and traumatized me so I go into fight or flight mode when I’m around him waiting for the other foot to drop. Always what is his real motive…so I can’t trust. I’ve moved on but I’ll never forget if that makes sense

Complete sense. That is healthy for you to not allow him any power over you. I have a different situation. Still needed to get out for my own good, but more so he could crash and burn on his own without taking me down with him, rather than to escape an abusive situation. Hugs to you sister! Glad you have found a good man after all that. Plus he’s so tall!

Then, in an unexpected turn of events, DS16 just did a “return to sender” of his entire meal. He was brilliant and got it all in a series of beverage glasses we kept sliding in front of him. Trying to figure out how to get him to the car now.
