Timing for Dining Reservations

61 days out! I’ll be making ADRs bright and early tomorrow morning, and I have a few questions about timing them with other activities. I’d like to do breakfast at Boma and then the African art tour at 11. Will a 9:30-ish reservation give me enough time, or should I try for something earlier? I’ll be coming off a string of early entry days, so I’d like to sleep in at least a little bit. Anywhere else in the world I’d expect a buffet as a solo diner to be pretty quick, but I’m not sure about Disney. And I’ve seen a few people say that they waited a long time to be seated at Boma recently.

My other question is about Story Book Dining at Artist Point. If I get an early reservation will I have time to get to Chip 'n Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-long? I’ll be on an ECV and at the mercy of Disney transportation. (Including Minnie Vans when necessary.) Will it be a massive hassle to get there? It sounds cute and fun, but it’s not a must-do for me.

I’m also looking to book a Fantasmic dining package and a breakfast at Topolino’s before my afternoon flight home. Should I book chronologically (Boma, Story Book, Fantasmic, Topolino’s, all several days into my trip), or is there anything really tough to book here that I need to try for first?

Thanks for the help!

That should be pretty ideal. Boma, being a buffet, can take as long as you like or be as quick as you like. I took my time last month and was not rushed out. A family of four, meanwhile, sat after me and sailed along well before I did.

Boma had loads of availability on my visit. I - like you - had a later reservation, so I think the backlog had cleared out. It was pleasantly not overcrowded. I didn’t wait even 1 second.

I’m sorry I can’t answer your other questions about Storybook

But in terms of order of booking, definitely Topo, StoryBook, Fantasmic, Boma

It should be fairly easy to get to Fort Wildnerness from Wilderness Lodge once the boats start running. (They might be running a bus also.) Just make sure you factor in time waiting for transportation, the ride over, and time walking to the theater. (I don’t know how close the bus stop is to the theatre.)
It sounds amazing as a solo excursion, so I hope you can fit it in. And I agree about the order in which you should book your reservations.

Thank you for the suggestions. I got everything I was hoping for, plus a brunch reservation at Homecomin’!

These are great dining reservations!

Storybook is still one of my favorite dining experiences. Enjoy!

Oh this is a favorite of mine
Enjoy!

Story Book dining in my experience was slow to seat us and slow to get the characters around, so I would definitely book on the earlier side if you want to get out of there at a certain time.

I am also not an expert, but I do not believe that ALL boats to FW can accommodate ECVs. The Blue Flag (WL,Contemporary, etc.) is usually the smaller boats.

Were you successful?

I was! My Story Book Dining reservation is a little earlier than I’d planned, but it’s going to be a mid-trip Disney Springs day or a bum around my room/do laundry day (depending on how wiped out I am by that point), so it’s not a big deal. I’m probably better off with a little extra time before the Campfire Sing-a-long anyway. I was able to schedule everything else exactly when I wanted.

I have to say that this is one of the best experiences I had at Disney. For our first trip to Disney as adults with our 8-year old, we camped.

Chip and Dale came around (not together) and took photos with anyone who wanted them. It was a super fun event.

We did not stay for the movie because we had pre-dawn ADRs at the Castle but we brought our own marshmallow kits and made smores.
You can buy kits there.
