“The Ocean chose ME!” A DCL Trip Report

Cheaper than the parks.

Not necessarily. Most of the mixed drinks are in line with park prices.

But they still add up.

On a cruiseline with a beverage package, it’s all pre-paid - and at least on Celebrity, I never had an issue getting a cocktail or glass of wine and a bottle of water at the same time so none of the “get my money’s worth” silliness people seem to have that leaves them stumbling around unable to remember their cruises. (and leads to things like the brawl on Carnivore (sorry, Carnival) that got them a police escort into port here in NYC a few weeks ago).

Sorry, I disagree, but will leave it at that.

I have heard that Celebrity is one of the "calmer(?) Cruise lines.

I was just on the Dream in May. Most of the mixed drinks (not talking the watered-down pre-mixed “drink of the day” were in the $14-$18 range which is exactly what the range I usually see in the parks is.

Celebrity tends towards a more adult crowd. But still a bit livelier than Holland America, which I think still trends older than the other US-based lines.

I am in love with this ship! I’ll spam with pics in a moment.

But first since we are  here and y’all will want to know:

  • We left our hotel at 10:00 - no traffic at all
  • Arrived at port at 10:15
  • Terminal opened at 10:30
  • Through security by 10:40
  • Checked in by 10:45
  • Bum in seat at terminal at 10:50
  • Boarding group 1 was called at 1210
  • A group was called, on average, every 1-2 minutes and my group (9) was called at 1230
  • On the ship by 1240
  • Checked in to our Muster Station 1250
  • Lunch at 1

Working hard since then to see as many of the spaces we can while they are not guest occupied, especially the kids’ areas (which I want to play in!)

Back in my stateroom now to charge up and recharge a bit.
Heading up to Sail Away in about a half hour - 45 mins to stake out our spot.
Will grab a cocktail on the way - have yet to have had one - what is wrong with me???!!!

I am a dining room breakfast person versus the buffet, but obviously you are going to want to try all the things for your clients.

@Trampslady_18966 are breakfasts better on ship days rather than port days in the MDR?

Was muster out on the deck?
Was it 7000°F?

Get the drink of the day. $6 vs $14. My light drinker DH racked up a scary bill on our 9n :grimacing:

Nope - you go to your muster station and they check your name off the list as having checked in. That’s it!
