Short version: I can see the argument for several of those, even if it makes the little kids weep.
Saying removing POTC, HM and even SM = “without much being lost” is fightin’ words.

To be clear, I love those three attractions and I think they’re great. But there is already a (superior 
) version of each of them at Disneyland, so that’s all I mean by that.
There is an argument to be made that it’s nice to have a duplicate attraction nearby and available for local / east coast crowds who can’t get to Anaheim easily. But on the other hand, WDW could have something new and unique in those spots that would be equally worthwhile.

Astro Orbiters, though, is in otherwise unusable space. I would think they could update it to a better spinner ride with more capacity, though. Again, I think a re-envisioned Tomorrowland is likely in the works.
As I see it, Monster’s Laugh Floor could be removed once Monster’s land opens in HS. BLSRR has been given a bit more life to it, but with Toy Story Land in place, they COULD decide to remove it. (Although, having Buzz in Tomorrowland fits thematically, unlike Monster’s Inc.) The space where The Extra-terrorestrial Alien Encounter is unused and could also be reclaimed space. Speedway, obviously. Tron will be left as is, and Space Mountain completely re-imagined. People Mover should stay, but it could be replaced with a more modern ride concept. But then, they got rid of it at DL and it never came back. It is my favorite ride, but if they are completely re-doing Tomorrowland, I could see PM being on the cutting block as well.

This is the caveat to your argument that is VERY VERY important. Thing is, I’m not certain that what DISNEY thinks is better is necessarily what FAMILIES will think is better. But, I DO think they are starting to turn things around after some “dark days” in Imagineering, so it is possible. Disney can’t forget, however, that one of the primary things that makes people life-long Disney fans is that they start 'em young. Hook the 3 year olds and then 5 year old and the 10 year olds, etc. If you start trying to make high-revenue-generating (via LL) rides strong on the thrills, but leave behind the young kids, then it would be VERY short-sighted of Disney.

This is no argument at all unless we’re ready to write off Uncle Walt’s idea of a middle class destination.
Case in point
A sizeable potion of the population lives thousands of miles from Disneyland. Many live within driving distance of Disney World.
If there’s a duplicate, replace the DL version.
Saying the middle class in the eastern half of the US can visit the west coast to experience these attractions reminds me of Let them eat cake.

This point is valid. I haven’t been to DL since I was a teen. We keep trying to plan trips to get out there, but it just never happens. Just too expensive for a park that is similar (enough) to WDW, which is much easier/cheaper to get to with a whole lot more to do.
(ETA: I was just trying to plan a potential trip with just my wife and myself to go to DL for 3 days/4 nights. All said, it was looking to be over $4000.)

Agree with your take on Tomorrowland. We rarely do more than Buzz and CoP. Make the Orbiters bigger to accommodate more folks, especially those of dubious limberness and modernize People Mover. New isn’t always better.

I agree with most of this list.
I’d love Pirates to get an expansion. There’s no reason for WDW to have the worst version across all the castle parks.
Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion are untouchable, and you should be put on a list for suggesting otherwise lol.

I don’t think it should be removed. But I think the coaster inside should be replaced with something much more modern, while retaining what is there conceptually. (And, if we want to simultaneously go old-school, it should be brought to us by “SpaceX” or something! 
)

This is a better idea. I agree with you that most of the country lives closer to WDW than DL and that east coasters aren’t as likely to make it to DL. The rides that are duplicated are generally better at DL, but no reason to get rid of them at WDW. Instead of replacing, WDW should build another park or two. There is plenty of room and plenty of great ride concepts. Build more parks in Florida! And leave DLR alone.

Especially when many of the Disney parks on other continents have similar attractions.
I’m traveling to Disneyland soon for maybe the 4th time as an adult. I’ll miss Pirates again. I think I’ve only been on the DL version once as an adult - in 2013.

Yeah my kids were sad that Pirates was down last week. And the Silly Symphony Swings, we love that old fashioned ride. Luckily there are so many attractions between the 2 parks there was plenty to fill our time. Hope you guys have a great trip!
