I know I listen much earlier than the rest of you. I’m looking forward to hearing everyone’s answer to Len’s question about what Disney movie should be adapted for the Sphere.
My answer is Fantasia!

I swear I was thinking Star Wars before they said it! But what would they drop from the ceiling??
Having just seen the Wizard of Oz at the Sphere I do think it should be a movie with “world settings” so to speak. The neatest part was how they were able to expand on Munchkinland and make it more expansive. If we are talking animated I would say Coco or Little Mermaid or even Frozen!
Oh I like this idea! ![]()
The original Tron. Go inside the grid!
Fantasia was my first thought, too! But on the other hand, the great thing about Fantasia is that it is a showcase of human artistry.
I would definitely have to hit the road and check out Star Wars if it ever had a residency at the Sphere. ![]()
That’s a good one!!
That might actually get me interested in going to Vegas again! ![]()
I am not sure I would stand for the amount of AI/editing/cutting that they did for Wizard of Oz for Star Wars though, now that I think about it…
I could tolerate that aspect since I would consider this a completely different thing – the same way SWGE is not the same as the movie, going to the Sphere is an immersive experience being in a world. Not necessarily experiencing the cinematic version of the film.
I don’t know. I hadn’t seen Wizard of Oz in many years and the cuts took me out of the experience. I cannot even imagine the Star Wars fandom if they cut somebody’s favorite line or space travel sequence. At one point I could probably quote the entirety of A New Hope. I guarantee I would notice 20 minutes of edits.
Yeah no. I’m not down with that for any movie ![]()
I think Encanto could have a lot of fun effects too.
They are doing a mini-sphere in National Harbor near here. So there is a chance I might get tk experience some of these!
A Wrinkle in Time
OR
Artemis Fowl
Neither of which are very faithful to the book(s) or were so popular that fans will miss 20 words cut from dialog.
But they might benefit from the adaptation.
On today’s Disney Dish, one thought Len and Jim discussed was that if Disneyland was built today, the equivalent time period for Main Street USA would be 1971!
In other words, for people in 1955, turn-of-the-century America brought feelings of nostalgia for anyone who could remember their own life ~55 years ago. So weird to think about! I wasn’t alive in 1971, but still …

Watch it! Some of us were born in 1971 ![]()
Yeah, I was….
Some of us were adults in 1971 ![]()
has it been so long ![]()
Has anyone listened to Len on Justin Searles’ podcast that he mentioned being on towards the end of the show?
I love it when Len talks about how Disney should be spending their money ![]()

While not nearly the same vibe as the current Main Street, 1971 Times Square was still mostly tame…
When we get to 1981 Times Square, there’s gonna be a problem.
