Not without Disney offering something else in return outside of the Marvel IP (unless there is a sunset on UOR’s rights? I assume not). But as a starting point, it would be easier (i.e., cheaper) than getting UOR to give up their rights completely.
I only hope you have to book one day at a time. Giving a length of stay advantage, while charging the same amount for the product just boggles my mind.
Yeah I think it will be one day at a time from what Len has said. It will be 3 days for offsite.
This is super important if prepicking is going to happen. You have to close the benefit that a leading reservation would provide. I feel like any ADR (dining) that was achieved in the 61+ day time frame should be tied to the reservation. If that reservation cancels, so should the ADR.
I agree in principle, but sometimes reservations are modified or changed to a different resort or dates in a way that might lose the original reservation #, and it wouldn’t be fair to lose the ADRs in that instance. Not sure how to adjust for that.
For different resorts, you have to call. For different dates, any reservation that you wouldn’t be eligible for with the new dates, you don’t get to keep. Thems the brakes. The leading reservations are usually what, 1-2 weeks before? If the reservation isnt available a week or 2 later then unfortunately you have to lose it. Just like a room isn’t guaranteed 2 weeks later- neither is a perk you received with your original reservation. I’m sure a CM could make an acception. But it should be up to a CMs digression. This will deter many people playing the game.
I see what you’re saying I just think the IT fix is difficult without breaking something else unintentionally. That’s why they’re changing the cancellation date to 8 days instead of trying to make it do what you’re saying for LLs.
Oh- I mean for ADRs, lol. The change to 8 day cancelation fixes the LLs. ADRs (60+10) using a leading reservation is a pet peeve, lol. It abuses the system and Disney should find a way to link the dining ADR that was obtained with a reservation at 61+ days to the reservation.
Yeah I knew what you were saying, I’m not being clear. I’m saying they can’t fix the ADR leading reservation issue due to the IT constraints.
First thing I thought that Disney could easily give up in the park is Simpsons. Universal already has it and it remains super-popular in Orlando, and keeping the area without having to develop something else would be more profitable for Universal.
I know Simpsons alone isn’t equal in revenue to Marvel, but it could be a starting point to get more MCU (basically beyond Guardians of the Galaxy) into WDW.
Kelly wrote in to the Disney Dish and said the same thing! She suggested Disney might give up the rights to The X-Files in return. That’s an interesting thought. Maybe X-Files + Simpsons would be enough to make it worth it to UOR to allow Disney to put a Webslingers and an Avengers simulator ride in Orlando.
Do younger people even watch or know about X-files? I watched it as a much younger child (probably a younger age than 98% of the shows audience). Did they remake it or something?
I don’t know. It was mentioned in the episode today, which is the only reason I brought it up. The reason it made sense to me is that Horror Nights is a huge thing for Universal so it might be a worthwhile investment.
X Files would be perfect for this!
I haven’t heard it yet. But just wondering if it has THAT much appeal. I like the show so I’m not complaining, lol. I can still hear the theme music playing in my head.
I don’t know that there is a super active fan base, but it seems plausible to me that if Universal used it it could awaken a sleeping dragon, so to speak.
Personality, I’m kinda indifferent. I like them both.
I would like to see a version that is more like Star Tours. A handful of random locations so you never know what you will get to see.
I really don’t remember exactly but I don’t remember the ended of Soaring over the world being the same as I just saw the other day. Does anyone recall what the center of Future World looked like before?
There are a bajillion videos on YouTube that you could compare to and see if it’s what you remember. I’m curious though! All reports are that it was not changed.
I know! It would be reported right? Maybe it’s just my memory. Lol.
