The Case For with Chris Cox

For sure…particularly when paying the kind of prices you are paying at Disney resorts! I mean, plenty of hotels don’t have anything more than a vending machine. But I think most people expect more from a place like Disney.

(Having said that…despite our best efforts, we have barely ever made it past 11 pm ourselves while at Disney, despite our best intentions! “Oooh! We’ll be there during Deluxe evening hours!” 8 pm hits. “Want to head back? Me, too.” )

Definitely different in a hotel setting. I always thought the food courts (and pools, for that matter) should remain open until 3 hours past the latest park closing time - which would probably be MK 99% of the time. The food courts after say 10pm don’t need to have all the offerings they have earlier in the day, but definitely the grab & go, and maybe simple items like pizza, tenders and fries, etc.

From @QwertySC 's screen shots I could see ASSports food court’s closing hour is 11.

I’m wondering. In June 2022 when we finished check in at 9:50 pm the CM said, btw, the food court closes at 10. :scream:

Diversion - with luggage - to the food court to get chow to go. Now we’re hauling suitcases and food while looking for our room.

So glad I sprang for preferred.
(Tho I’m wondering why I was checking in at the desk. There was some reason . . . )

I have to think that much of the lack of late night food availability is dirth of night owl labor pool to draw from.

There’s a “before 6am”? Ew.

In all seriousness, that why Coronado Springs is our resort of choice. It has not one, not two, but three restaurants open until midnight.

And if we get really desperate there’s always Wawa.

Austin too! All restaurants close earlier now in general and the Austin institution of kerbey lane (a local better ihop) isn’t 24 hours. It was the place you went if you wanted decent food after a late night show and when you were young after the bars. I think only the suburban (way north of Austin) round rock location is open till 2am cuz i had to go to that one after a rock concert. Ridiculous. I don’t want McDonalds or Taco hell and there is nothing else open at midnight anymore except magnolia cafe (but only one remaining location) way south and I live way north.

I hate not being able to pick something up before rope drop. I’ve started bringing or ordering protein bars and iced coffee options and then eating later in the parks.

Apparently your imaginary Disney has been spying on me :joy:

Now I buy the bottled old fashioned they sell in the gift shops because I usually don’t want my cocktail until after I have left the park on hot days! I guess Disney still gets my money…

Too funny.

I have stayed up all night past 6:00 am many more times than I have gone to sleep and woken up for the day before 6:00 am. Granted the vast majority of those all nighters took place between ages 18 and 30, but even post 30 I’ve had more all-nighters than early risings.

Next trip our flight arrives at MCO around 9:00 pm. By the time we get our luggage and rental car and drive to BLT, it will be a close call as to whether we make it to Contempo Cafe by 11:00 pm. If we don’t make it in time … then granola bars for dinner.

Last year we had the same timing and made it to All Star Sports in time so hoping we can do it again.

I’d be tempted to eat at the airport to be sure. Granola bars at the end of a travel day would be awful.

In the future, if arriving late to hotel, I will opt to eat something en route. Never want to be stuck eating dominoes at WDW again

I was thinking about this too. Yes it does suck having to jump off the expressway as there’s nothing fast. But being hungry when you’re trying to go to bed is the worst.

No, I meant I would bring something for dinner on the plane

Oh I thought the same thing as @QwertySC!

Which is probably what I would do in the future. I’d rather stop at a 24-hour fast food joint than try to eat on a plane.

When renting a car, yes. Absolutely.

The one time I ended up in that situation it was because we did not rent a car and so we were stuck with what the resort offered (nothing) or what could be delivered
