We are returning in 10 days to make up our trip that was crashed by hurricane Ian last year. We are staying at boardwalk this time because much to my surprise my kids LOVED Epcot. They will for sure want to ride test track more than once (daily LOL). We will have genie plus and take advantage of extra magic hours, but I am curious if there is any reason to rope drop TT if we are entering via international gateway. It seem like by the time we treck all the way across the park the line be so long to make it worthwhile. Any recent experiences?
Test Track is known for late starts due to the outdoor portion of the track. If there is any bit of morning dew, they will delay opening. That being said we did attempt rope drop despite knowing this and it didn’t open on time. I think we waited around 40 minutes or so for it to open.
I to find it’s usually not open so we go to Frozen or Ratatouille.
Test Track has a single rider line, so if your kids are at least 7 (and don’t mind riding with strangers), they can do that. It has a very short wait throughout the day.
As far as logistics go, you get to line up at Canada when coming from the IG for ripe drop. So you don’t have to start all the way back at France.
If they are old enough and don’t mind the possibility of riding alone, use the single rider line for Test Track. They can ride multiple times in a row. I’d rope drop Remy then FEA if coming from IG.
Do you still get to design a car if you opt for the single rider line?
Yes, at least in my experience. I believe you can also enter the “exit” into the showroom area and design a car there, then come around to the single rider line.
Going to WDW in two days, and I love how I’m still pulling tips from this forum. Single rider line option for Test Track, yes, yes. THANK YOU!
Thanks!
You can!
You can do this!
They do have kiosks in the single rider line as well for designing, but I believe - last time I used them…your options were much more limited.
I’m a big fan of the single rider line, even when I’m riding with groups!
I don’t think I’ve ever rope dropped Epcot and actually seen Test Track open on time
The Design a Car in Single Rider line is super basic. Not like regular line.
Having said that, 9 times out of 10 - I just do SR.
I ditto the advice already given. I don’t recommend rope dropping TT since it so often has a late start. (If you have Genie+, it’s a great option for a LL as a hedge in case it is closed.) Go to Remy and / or FEA first. If TT ever has a wait around 30-45 minutes, get in line. Otherwise do SR or wait till the hour before park close.
thanks for all the advice- my son is 6 so he can’t do SR line, but knowing that it is often closed I will likely just skip rope drop at epcot and focus on genie + strategy. We will try to get several rides during extra evening hours and maybe pop in just prior to park close since we are at boardwalk
Even well before all of the4 LLs and ILLs the general consensus was NOT to RD TT as it is notorious for opening late.
Test Track is notoriously the least reliable ride at Epcot and frequently goes down. I’ve been a number of times when TT went down late in the day and never reopened. So, ride it when you can - either G+, or standby to make sure you ride at least once. If the ride is having a good day, you ride again and really make everybody happy. My DD is the same way with Space Mountain. She isn’t happy unless she rides it 6-8 times a trip! Have a great time!
