How does the cancellation policy work so as not to be penalized? Do you have to cancel prior to your reservation time the day before or just before midnight the day before?
You need to cancel the night before or modify your reservation to another day and then cancel.

Yup, as long as you do it by midnight of the night before, you should be fine. If you happen to miss that though, just modify your reservation to another day, then cancel.
