Split-Stays

Liners (195 days to go) for our first use of the DVC. Cannot wait! We are doing a split stay. 7 at SSR and 5 at BWV before we shift to “the other place” for an Epic time.
Will Bell Services transfer our bags between the resorts? Has anyone had any recent experience of this? Do they transfer between Bell Services or will the BWV team put the bags in the room?
I’ve seen a few online reports but not noticed anything recent.

They will transfer your bags.

You can drop them at Bell Services, which will be quicker. Or call and ask them to come and collect them.

At the new resort you will need to call from your room and ask Bell Services to bring your bags. Or take them up yourselves. They won’t deliver them to your room before you arrive.

Don’t rely on the bags being there by a certain time. They say around 4pm but it could be later. And make sure to speak to them as soon as you get to the resort. We once found at 10pm our bags had been left at the old resort and a CM ended up going to pick them up. Mistakes do happen sometimes.

This past January, we had our bags transferred from ASMu to BWV. We dropped our bags off at Bell Services around 10-ish, and I was able to pick them up at BWV bell services around 3-ish. But no guarantee it would happen that early/quickly.

I’ve never asked Bell Services to bring our luggage to our room. I just do it myself.

You can use Air Tags or the Android equivalent to track exactly where your luggage is. That way you know for sure when it has arrived at the second location. I did this in December, moving from CSR to Pop. It was the first time I did a split stay and didn’t have a car. I took them to Bell Services myself and picked them up myself, so I did not have to spend any time waiting for Bell Services to either come get them from my first room, or waiting for them to deliver them to your room.

It usually works to bring your bags yourself, and SSR is the only resort I have ever stayed at that bell services told me they couldn’t come to my room and get my bags, BUT…. AKL told me my bags were lost because I brought the bags down to bell services (longest run on sentence ever). Since the phones calls go to one central location a “ticket” is activated and that ticket can be tracked. When you bring your bags to bell service if they put those bags in a corner, they cannot be tracked. Trust me- it happens.

Trust me, too. But ours got put in the wrong corner at the resort we had moved to. Took hours to find them. We finally got into our room at 11 pm.

Another trip - different resort and first try at Disney moving our luggage - Bell Services would only leave luggage with us. And didn’t bring it to our room until after 5 pm. We had a 6pm supper reservation. We had been told 4 pm which could be Disney speak for this afternoon/evening, some time.

We’ve only tried it twice and will not rely on Disney again, tho some seem to have luck.

In future if needed I will get a ride share and move my luggage myself.

With such a long stay, maybe not possible but if you won’t have a rental car, consider a ride share to transport them to the new resort yourself. That way you know that they got from At to B. Though I realize this may not make sense for you.

Also you should know that last I heard they will not transfer refrigerator items. If you have any groceries that you’ll need to move and they need refrigerated you’ll have to move them yourself.
