If I were you, I would play the “I didn’t realise I wouldn’t be able to make FPs for the January stay. I’m bringing some dear friends / cousins for their first trip…” spiel.
It may just work.

This is all very helpful (and reinforces the notion that split stays just might be more complicated than they are worth, especially for an AP holder!

After a long chat with my sis, I think we’ve settled on a single stay on-site, with no changing of resorts. That will be the simplest option in terms of FPs and it will actually not be much more expensive than staying at DS plus renting a car for a week.
