If you arrive for early magic hours, is your ticket linked to your resort (if staying at Disney). Do they just scan your ticket, realize you are offsite and tell you to go sit in the corner for 30 minutes?
Kind of. Yes, your ticket / magic bands / phone will show you as an onsite resort guest or offsite guest.
Depending on the park, offsite guests will either be waiting outside the gates or waiting inside at a certain point whilst onsite guests get to go through to the rides.

Yep right now offsite guests wait in the hub at MK, and outside the park for EP, AK & DHS.
