Show Tips & Express Passes

Hi everyone… a few questions about shows:

-I’m finding show schedules for just a few days out on Touring Plans. But in the Universal app, I’m only seeing the current day’s schedule. Is there somewhere else in the UOR app I should be looking?

-UOR website only lists the Bourne show as having express pass. But I’m also seeing people mention Animal Actors and Horror Makeup show in various places online. So… which shows have Express?

-For shows, I’m reading they let people in 10-15 minutes ahead of time for seating. But if you have express, you get in earlier. As soon as they release the standard line though, that express pass is no longer advantageous. Is that accurate?

-For shows without an Express Pass option, what’s a good rule of thumb for how early to arrive? We’re visiting during Thanksgiving week so… big crowds.

For the two shows you mentioned, Express Passes are (in my experience) wholly unnecessary. And, in fact, with Bourne they are a disadvantage — you want to be in the middle of the pack so that you end up in the centre of the theatre.

Ok so only Bourne has Express. As for using it, I read somewhere (can’t find it now) that they let the express pass folks in to choose their seats. In reality they just cram you off to the side? If we’re hoping to be in the middle of the pack for the best seats, how long before showtime would you recommend arriving during a high crowd day?

Nope. That is super not true.

Everyone gathers in a huge room at the front end of which is a big screen and you watch the pre-show. Then doors open and you enter the theatre under the screen and you’re entering from the side. They’re telling you to walk all the way down the rows to the end. Don’t stop in the middle. People do, obviously. But then other people have to climb over you.

I think there is no advantage at all to an EP for Bourne and no advantage to getting there early. I’ve arrived ten minutes early and wished I’d waited a bit to get in the centre of the pack.

That being said, the theatre is enormous and the stage is curved and the action takes place with a huge set so there probably aren’t many terrible seats.

Any show inside a theater has an UXP option. This includes Horror Make-up and Animal Actors as well as Bourne.

At Horror Make-up you get to sit in the front rows and at Animal Actors you can choose your seat in the bleachers first.

UXP at Bourne gives you no advantages. You all enter together in a MASSIVE herd. Then you pick whatever row you like and walk all the way to the end of that aisle all at the same time

There are no theater shows at IOA…RIP to Posiedon’s Fury!!! :sob::sob:

Awesome! So for Horror Make-up and Animal Actors I want to be there maybe… 20 minutes before showtime (with express) to get the best seats?

It’s a very small theater. There’s not a bad seat in the house. I wouldn’t fret about being there more than 10 - 15 minutes early.

FYI - Here are my top 5 “not to miss” shows at UOR

In order of preference

#1 - The Bourne Stuntacular
#2 - CineSational (nighttime lagoon show)
#3 - Tales of Beedle the Bard (if you like HP)
#4 - Horror Make-up Show
#5 - Animal Actors

There’s a lot of great street shows too!

Beat Builders, Marilyn Monroe, Frog Choir and more!

I’m REALLY glad you all brought up CineSational again! I read that the show ended this summer, but just found it’s returning for select dates in November. :sunglasses: I would think that would include some nights during Thanksgiving week, so I’ll add it to my list!

The parade is supposed to be running as well. I didn’t list it, but if you like the movies of the 80s - 90s like Jaws, Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park the Mega Movie parade is a fun show too!
