Just saw Scott Gustin report that starting January 20, 2024, early entry at DLR will rotate daily such that either DL or DCA will have 30-minute early entry, rather than both parks having it every day.
We’re not all that competitive anyway with the group we have, but it’s nice to be able to consider going to Racer’s or Rise to maybe just have a 30 min wait instead of knowing the best we could do is maybe 60 min and just dealing with the standby line during a lull another time of day.
Agreed I think this is good news for off-site guests, which includes most of us at least some of the time. And in theory an on-site guest can still have early entry every day.
In the hopes of comforting you, the population of onsite hotel guests is really so much smaller at DLR that even if they’re all in just one park, it’s still a pretty good perk. You will want to make sure you schedule your start day reservations to line up with which park has the EE, but with hopping at 11am it’s not so big a deal to me anymore to pick a park since I only have to start there for a few hours and then can hop on over. I have no idea if they’ll stick to the EE days they had before, but it was DL: Tue, Thur, Sat; DCA: Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun. So they do rotate it making it fairly easy.
And at least they no longer have an off-site early entry option (they used to allow off-site guests to buy a certain type of ticket that would give them one EE start same as onsite guests at only the DL side). Peter Pan might be a touch harder at the start of EE, but I don’t ever recommend that one anyway unless you’re super, duper competitive & don’t mind checking the elbows thrown your way to get position for it.
This is why I don’t think this necessarily portends a similar change at WDW. Very different circumstance. But I admit the thought crossed my mind as well.
Look at you … thinking about the guest experience and not the bottom line
Yes, you might be right, but I don’t think it is out of the realm of possibility given the trend of reduced free “extras” for on-site over the past few years.
