Rope Drop or End of the Night for Magic Kingdom

I was wondering what everyone’s opinion was on Magic Kingdom. If you HAD TO choose:

Would you rather rope drop this park until noon or would you rather go from dinner time until closing?

Dinner to closing most times of year. a) I’m a night owl; b) cooler temps; c) lower crowds; d) less stress / commotion; e) beautiful ambiance.

I only choose rope drop typically because I have young kids and their sleep schedule trends earlier than mine. Also if I’m at Disney for a short amount of time I will burn the candle at both ends.

A couple of our late nights at MK have been wet. Both in June, one first week and one being the last week of June. They were ok but dry is easier. Our December late night was dry and a lot of fun. I can only recall one rope drop which involved rain. It was actually quite a storm but MK opened on schedule. That was also a December.
We’ve rope dropped a couple dozen times.

I do not like the idea of only doing one of these. I prefer RD to close! But - I’d have a hard time giving up the fireworks. So I’d go for PM.

However - if I was taking someone I was trying to maximize rides for - I’d go for AM.

dinner time until closing for the same reasons @Jeff_AZ gave.

Another Dinner-to-Close Vote.

No matter if it is a Theme Park, Amusement Park, or Carnival Midway there is just something special about the night time ambiance.

Depends on your goals for the Magic Kingdom visit. I could experience more from RD to Noon, but I’m a night person so I’d have more fun going dinner to close. Note - If using MPLL, it is much more advantageous to arrive RD vs the evening (this was not necessarily the case with G+ because of the 2 hour rule and stacking).

Good point about LLMP. On the other hand, you’ll be able to get your pre-booked times easily (since evening is less in demand), albeit with tier restrictions. And once you use your first three, you very well could pick up a couple more and fill your time just fine with non-LLMP or high capacity attractions, plus hitting a big ride last thing.

Thank you everyone! Every time we go to Disney, I tend to do MK for rope drop, as you can get so much done. However, for our trip last year, my daughter (15 now) really loved MK at night. So for our summer trip (staying 8 days) I was considering splitting up my magic kingdom days to be in the evenings where we’d do a “land” each night (fantasy, adventure/liberty and tomorrow)…

We’d either sleep in or do another park in the morning, have a sit down lunch somewhere nice (my choice, I’m a foodie), then afternoon break, and MK at night.

If I have multiple days, I might do one of each

I love doing this. However, if you have any must-dos, schedule them for your first night, especially if they are outdoors or are prone to downtime. I’ve saved the best ride for last before only to have it down or unavailable due to rain the last day.

I really love MK at night. I have never seen 7DMT over 30 mins after 9pm. They fib about a lot of their line times, so sometimes you have to use your eyes. After the fireworks the crowds leave and the park is yours!

I do also like the first 90 mins after rope drop, but then it gets too busy.

rope drop for sure - but I’m a morning person

I love MK at night, so I would choose that over morning and HEA is my favorite.

But after my last trip, I would rather do one full day at MK with LL than two half days. This goes against my previous views because my family prefers more leisurely days. However, the cost and use of LL just makes a full day at MK followed by a full rest day make more sense than two half rest/half MK days. I’d do a TS meal for lunch or dinner to break up the day and provide a little rest plus low line shows in air conditioning mid-day as needed.
