Rider Switch Question (Physical vs Digital?)

Good idea on the screenshot. I took one. And in fact, RS on the website currently flat out SAYS that you wait out of queue and can go get a snack or whatever. It’s more to Disney’s interest to have you out and able to shop/buy than stuck in queue, I would think. But our son struggles to wait in a whole line (which is why he has DAS for himself) so, while I can see the attractiveness of a ‘physical’ RS, it wouldn’t work for us. It WOULD work for us if we could use his DAS to make that wait shorter. So I guess I’d say if ‘physical’ RS was enforced, they should let you use DAS for that, because the whole point of DAS for my child anyway is to help him handle the lines he finds challenging. It doesn’t make sense to make him stand in a line and then take that away, you know? It defeats the purpose.

Anyway, all this makes sense and I get it now. Now if we get offered physical vs digital I’ll know what it means and how to handle. Thanks everyone!

Yeah, swapping at the platform often would save significant time. Soarin’ especially. Soarin’ always takes minimum 1 hour for us to ride with RS, even with a LL (30 min for each party).

I think it was at Legoland (CA) where they had a process to identify seats on the next two “Soarin’” clone shows (I think it was themed to the Lego Movie). So 4 of us rode once and then as soon as we were done, our same 4 seats were already reserved to ride again with the adults swapped out with the non-riding child waiting at the exit. It was a painfully slow loading ride so it was especially nice to not have to wait in any line at all the second time.

My DS6 loves Soarin so I am thankful for that!

But that’s really neat at Legoland! Also, Legoland NY needs this ride!

If they “make” you do physical rider swap (which I really don’t believe they will) then you can/should definitely use the DAS for it!

Possibly the ride I was most grateful that my DD5 was finally tall enough to ride this past year.

I actually was a Soarin hater for a few years so just skipped it. But now that he has his adorable favorite rides I have been converted! We just missed the short-lived “over CA” version which I would have liked to see.
