Randon Food Musings from inside of Disneyland

I might be at DLR on Friday the 30th, but I’m trying to decide how much of a pain it is to stay at the surrounding hotels, because of course there are no DVC rooms available. Need to be able to get out of Anaheim easily on the morning of the 31st to fly to WDW. So Friday it should be easy to walk to the parks from any of the offsite hotels since the race is contained in the parks?

I had the Banyan Beef Skewer. I thought that was enough beef

Friday should be good. The race will be over by 7:00 am at the latest? It’s “untimed” but they will start closing parts of the course to get people to the finish. We’ve only stayed on hotels on Harbor, and it’s never been an issue.

If you are trying to leave between like 5:00 and 7:30 am, I think you’ll be ok turning north on Harbor to get out of town. There’s just no way to go south on Harbor, as that will all be closed for the race.

I ran the 5K back in November of ?2014, back then it started over between the Grand and DLH. Very convenient when staying onsite. Not as much now it appears.

Yeah, the people staying onsite were  when the first 2024 maps came out, and they saw the start line was in that funky lot way east. Everyone staying on Harbor was going

We often end up going into Grand Californian and having breakfast at their quick service. It’s excellent!

THIS.

I love burgers and I get nauseous eating the ones in WDW. Doesn’t matter the venue either… I’ve had several. All the exact same result.

As such, I avoided the burgers in DL when I was there… might have to give it a go now.

But it’s the wrong beef. I don’t care for it nearly as much as I do the Bengal one. It’s about the sauce.

I am not walking all the way across into DTD just to get breakfast. I’ll be fine with McDonald’s or Denny’s

I second this! Great breakfast.

…ok, just slow your roll there, Mr. Sophistication.

No, Silly, you go through the special Grand Cal entrance over by Soarin’! We were talking about how DCA specifically doesn’t have good breakfast options. If you’re in DCA already, it’s very close.

That is true. DCA is really lacking. The little spread inside of Desert Inn was enough to keep me from biting my arm off until we could get some real food.

yeah, why is this again?

I mean, even DL doesn’t really do well when it comes to breakfast… but DCA is…awful.

Because DL is more a locals park, and most of them come after work. There’s stuff here and there, but a lot of it just looks like chocolate frosted sugar bombs.

but that’s a BS excuse, it’s just as crowded as WDW is in the morning when it comes to breakfast

I’ve always wondered if it is because DLR is for locals and they eat at their homes before they leave in the morning? Or they don’t even come in the morning a good deal of the time.

I had the same thought just didn’t type it fast enough.

when I was there, breakfast areas weren’t packed, but I also figured it was because “why would they be? there’s nothing here worth eating.”

Kinda a chicken and the egg scenario it feels like
