Question For CM’s and Those In The Know - Security

Do Cast Members have shift meetings ahead of the shift? Is security a topic of these meetings?

My question comes as I prepare to travel in a few weeks and the terror attacks happening of late. I must say - I feel 100% comfortable at WDW. Just wondered if employees are briefed daily about things to be on the lookout for, or if that type thing is left up to security. (Are security guards Disney employees?)

I don’t believe so. Julia never mentioned any kind of a shift huddle. I don’t know what kind of communication may occur on the CastLife website/app though. That may be more along the lines of what you’re thinking

Yes, Disney security are CM

And, FWIW, it is my understanding that large global security groups (I believe I was told including the US Govt) frequently consult with Disney around security.

I know after 9/11 Disney (amongst other major tourist spots) were given a security… Lesson, overhaul, consultation… Not sure what the best description is. But my aunt worked there at that time. I don’t know what she did but it was Admin in nature and with the imagineering. My grandparents were very concerned with her being in Disney physically. I was in college but living with them. It’s all very fuzzy but I remember that Disney and the government took security very, very seriously after that (and I’m sure before as well). I remember her saying (paraphrasing of course) that out of all the places you could go with a lot of people, Disney would be one of the safest in the country.

Yes and no. Depends on the location. But yes if there are any big changes in operations they would most likely be shared via the HUB or email also depending on role.

I assume security CM’s have a much more involved version of updates than say an attractions CM.

I have nothing to add, but want to keep track of this thread.
