President’s or Columbus?

Given the choice would you visit the week before/of president’s day or Columbus Day? Have been to WDW many times but never around a holiday weekend.

President’s Day

Columbus Day is still on the cusp of hurricane season. It can still be so hot and humid. And the crowds are high.

President’s Day has much more mild weather. No humidity and no hurricanes

I suppose it might be important to consider whether winter weather could threaten your trip and then plan accordingly just in case. But IMO it’s a much nicer time of year to tour.

Columbus Day…

Any time around a holiday is crowded but we like the Halloween decorations and Food & wine.

If you’re looking purely at crowds, I believe Presidents Day is still considered the more busy of those two holidays. But that’s not the only factor to consider, as has been pointed out.

The biggest problem with Presidents’ Week is it usually lines up with Marie Gras so you get all the “We live our city but not that week” escapees from New Orleans on top of the Northeast Schools that have the week off.

Columbus Day because a lot of schools are not giving that day off any more.

I was curious about this and I have Touring Plan’s data they have made public in a database at work (I asked for permission from Touring Plans to do so). The average wait time in their publicly available data for 7DMT and FOP is shorter for Columbus Day vs. President’s Day. I can’t share the dashboard for some reason (I’m guessing I don’t have permission?) but I’ll come back and post a link if I’m able to later.

Thanks everyone! We’re swayed by the weather I have to say - with two young boys I think February might suit us more but also don’t want it to be too crowded - we visited in May this year and managed but it was the busiest I’ve ever seen it and have been going for 30years!
