I do NOT want to go to work tomorrow

Lizzy has discovered the financial joy of incentive pay (purely from a financial aspect–not from the we are understaffed and nursing sucks aspect).

Why don’t you skip work and join me at Disney tomorrow?

I have a friend that is a NP in Kansas. She has local RN collegues that are being offered 13 week short term contracts for $97,500. That would be for just three months of work.

She shared that the salary is tempting, but not to go back to shift work and lose her work/life balance.

I used to know someone that was a scab nurse. She would do one shift like that every year, and then not work otherwise. So, it was 3 months away from home doing nothing but work, and then 9 months doing nothing but play and real life. Actually, I guess I didn’t really ‘know’ her all that well. I knew her husband who played low-stakes poker to kill time in evenings when she worked.
