You chuck, I huck
The photos aren’t the greatest quality but it’s nice for me to journal in the moment.
This must be a Northern vs Southern thing!
We typically arrive home near midnight, so I do nothing when I get home, just crash into bed. Our clothes are normally clean, so it’s just a matter of putting them away, which usually happens within a couple of days. The suitcases then sit in my bedroom mocking me for a month before I put them back in the attic. Photos have been on the never timeline. I still haven’t done anything with all the photos and video we took in March.
This makes me feel better about myself
In fact - this is the exact description of what I do!
Yes, I’m lazy. Point taken.
I wish.
Very much unpack immediately for DW and I, throw the laundry down by the washer. We’ll leave the empty suitcases ready to air out in the sun on our deck for the next day.
If it is a late arrival home (after 10pm?) I’m a get the bags in the house, shower and bed, then first thing in morning git 'er done.
My son is more of the drop the half open bag in the middle of his room and leave it there to trip over for multiple weeks until we need to burn the contents and the bag and buy new ones -type.
When I arrive at a hotel - I unpack immediately. I mean, I could be staying for 1 night and all my stuff is hung or put in the drawers right away. No hesitation.
When I get home from a trip - I can ignore that suitcase for days/weeks. I pull my laundry and shoes out within 1 or 2 days - because I need my clothes, but everything else…well…
My photos I download and dump into an album within weeks. 1 because my mom harasses me to see all my trip photos (and I can just send her a link to my google drive) and 2 because I want to check and see if I’m missing and photopass photos before I forget.
I got back from Disney in July, my toiletries/souvenirs/ears are all still waiting to be put away. Actually, my souvenirs from my May trip as well. Yikes.
I’ve been at least doing this. I almost never get further than this though
We have second floor laundry, so no chucking or hucking. More like heaving.
Generally, when we get home, we unload the car and the stuff stays in the front room by the door until the next day other than important items such as medications.
Dirty laundry is kept separated from clean, so it is pretty easy to just plop the laundry by the washing machine. My wife generally does the laundry as she finds the time/motivation. After bags are unloaded, I usually have to get them put away since I am significantly taller than my wife and can, you know, actually reach shelves!
Once laundry is clean, sometimes she will be nice and put everything of mine away…but sometimes she leaves a pile for me to take care of.
Team Lazy ftw!
That is brilliant!
Excellent
She’s ALWAYS nice—she’s doing your laundry for you!
I unpack right away usually. But I have this hanging toiletry bag for travel and that pretty much stays out and hung up in the bathroom all the time. I just travel often enough that it makes sense.
@gMagicScott What happened to your avatar? You’ve been erased!!!
I know you said “FTW” but my brain immediately read it as “WTF” and I was like wow she came out swinging on being called lazy
I didn’t mean to imply that! I’m sorry.
No matter what, the suitcases go to the laundry room - everything gets washed even if still “clean”, electronics get put on their chargers and toiletries get unpacked and at least put for easily access. Showers are immediate.
If we get in at a good hour, laundry gets started, and everything gets taken out of suitcases and backpacks.
If we get in super late, we’ll just leave the bags in the car and start in the morning. That’s only happened once though, after a 12hr drive turned into 19. We didn’t even shower after that hellish day!
This is exactly me!!!
