What area of the resort would you request for a Club level 2 queen? We were in the Villa wing last year and it was far. I’d like to try and get something closer to either the club lounge or the boat dock, but not near the construction. Unfortunately, it looks like the construction is currently in the west wing, and maybe the Villa wing.
I’ve stayed club level at Portofino twice this year and both times were in the villa wing. I actually thought that’s where all the club rooms were.
I think everyone in club level last month was in the villas too. At check in they told us to expect our view to be impacted (the windows were covered) and to expect noise during the day (we did not hear any noise).
Just stayed in the East Wing last weekend (non club level), and there was no construction going on that side. I think they finished there first. The club lounge is near the lobby, so it makes sense that they’re putting club level folks in the villa rooms, but I am not sure if they’d place folks in other wings.
I did not expect that. I’m worried now, but too late to change my reservation. When we stayed last November, they appeared to be doing the renovation in small areas at a time and not affecting occupied guest rooms. We’re also paying $100 more per night this year for the same room type.
This was my second stay during construction. They may be finished with that area soon. They said all construction will be completed in December?
Honestly, it did not impact us and $100 for the club level benefits would be “worth it” for me.
Will you have time to eat at dinner time? Do you go to the spa?
Did you see my thread with the current week club level menus?
I thought they had renovated the bathrooms in the villas to add a door and that was why they are club level rooms? I don’t know if I read that here or on chat.
It was very noticeable near the villa and beach pools. They’re doing lots of work on those buildings, and currently, the walkway to the park is extended since you can’t go to the right of the boat dock—you have to go left around the entire lagoon (if you’re facing the boat dock), which extends the walk by 5-10 minutes. We just ended up waiting for the boat. If you plan to be by the villa pool, you will hear and see construction. It didn’t bother me since I live in a noisy city, but I can see how it could bother some folks.
What I meant was last year to this year $100 more. Both Club level. So, in terms of the rooms being affected vs not. Honestly, I would not expect in any hotel to have the room windows completely covered up. But if there were that situation it should be deeply discounted.
We get club level because my kids like to go down to breakfast. We never use the evening or afternoon hours of the club. The breakfast makes it harder for us to get to the parks early (because of kids taking a long time), but they like it.
I’ve been told different things over time about the club level room locations. Supposedly, they are scattered around the hotel. But I think most are in the Villa wing. Our previous club level rooms have been in the Villa wing, sometimes very far from the lounge.
I would call them and put in a preference to have a room not actively under construction. I would hope they’d preference it as a club level payee.
Thanks. I will try. I’m very surprised they have been booking rooms without windows. So, possibly they don’t care. The club level isn’t that much more money. I’m always torn between booking Bay view and Club (which usually isn’t Bay view).
Tinker, do you recall from a regular room, how much the club level upgrade usually is? And is it per person or per room? I’m wondering for next time if I should look for Bay view and try to get club added. I don’t think it would matter for this trip. I found an employee mention on Reddit if you book Bay view it’s 50/50 you’re view is obstructed. Which is puzzling because in that case you’re actually booking a view type…
I don’t know the amount of you add it on at check in. My add on pretrip increased my rate $50 per night for 3 adults in the room. I just happened to stalk and got a great AP rate. The regular difference was $325 (but that was AP bay view room to regular club level).
A month ago I was in the East wing, in a bay view room and there was construction there, on the side that faces the water… the lady at check in told me that I shouldn’t be impacted by the construction, but my “bay view” was completely blocked by a scissor lift. I didn’t notice any noise from it, though. They refunded 1/3 of what I paid, which was fine since I paid AP rate.
I think that part should be completed by now. For me the biggest annoyance was Starbucks being closed, TBH.
Oh, I meant if you have a different room type and add club level access. That’s a great deal though.
I’m so surprised they were still working on the Bay side of the East wing last month.
Yes, completed! I stayed last weekend and they’re finished in the East wing.
Yes, I just figured it was somewhere between those numbers. All my searching seems to say $100 a night but that seems low (same price quoted 7 years ago).
Anyone know the status of the construction at this time? I have a friend wanting to go end of February… UOR site says will still be under construction until March, but I’ve got to think it’s minimal by now?
