Poll Time! The Case for Character Meals

Y’all, except @Julianne_fki, be sure to avoid the character meals so I can continue helping the characters have fun

Was the theme, “Which costumes are clean?” or “Who came to work today?”
Just kidding - sort of… This doesn’t work for me.

I would love a collection of Mary Poppins, Bert, Penguin; or Peter Pan, Wendy, Smee, Hook; or Alice, Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, Cheshire.

we ate there two days in a row in 2016 (TEN YEARS AGO!) so that we could be front of the rope drop pack.

No theme! They don’t need one, imo. Sure you’d never catch them in a Disney movie together, but they all exist in the Disney universe together! And for all the character meals I’ve been to, it’s always been one character at the table at the time. Everyone talking about multiple characters interacting together at character meals? I’ve never seen it. EXCEPT Prince Ali and Tiana- who were completely adorable together even though they don’t exist in the same movie together. The experience was Far and above better than Storybook dining who were all the same theme. So a theme doesn’t really sell me.

I simple ADORE Mary Poppins. Would’ve loved to see that iteration of 1900 PF

Late to the game. We have zero interest in characters, including meals with the characters. Less than zero, meaning we wouldn’t want to go to a character meal even if it was free. There are some restaurants I would try if it weren’t for the characters. Topolino’s, for example, because location location location. But with characters, it is a non-starter.

The interaction @LTinNC82 and I had with him was so akward 1900 lost its chance at being top 3 :joy: So akward.

Artist Point was definitely the best experience for us:

I’ll amend my favorite experience to add a favorite solo experience. I was feeling pretty akward being solo at Plaza Inn in DLR and Marry Poppins Penguin pulled up a chair and sat down and hung out with me while straightening the table. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Which is a safety thing mostly. The non-face characters can’t see around them very well. That’s why they’ve got the escort person.

I like having magic :sparkles: when I’m in the World and part of that for me is having fun with people who probably had a dream as they were growing up of helping guests have a magical time.

And yes @ryan1 - no characters at supper at Topolinos. When we were there for a birthday supper we got placed behind a pillar, which excellently blocked the view of the fireworks. Same at 'Ohana’s. :sparkles:

I love the side-eye the Queen has. You look so stoic, while the others are not.

You have to do the characyer brunch at the Plaza when you are in DLR! Several of the characters interacted with each other wjen I was there!

The queen was perfection. We have a whole series of her reactions. My DH started doing this when DD was younger because she could be very serious and it lightened the mood. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I voted for 1900! We do it on departure day every full family trip. We were so happy when it finally opened up again!!

I voted “Other” for the in vs out of park question because we enjoy both! The 3 I happened to choose for the poll are all out of park, but we’ll happily head to Crystal Palace or Garden Grill on most trips too. We generally do at least 1 TS a day, and with 10+ day trips, I’d say we average at least 3 character meals per trip.

It’s on the list

So here’s why this is difficult. There are the character interactions, the specific characters, the food and the venue so there are positives to them all in one way or another but topolinos terrace is hands down just one of the highest quality restaurants so I voted for it but it’s not my fave characters or character interactions. Tusker house is huge and the character interactions are brief and not unique characters but the food is also really good and we had a fantastic interaction with goofy one of our trips. 1900 park fare dinner used to be effin fantastic with the step sisters and it would have topped my list for character interaction but alas they’re gone. But Garden grill it’s all about how much time you get with the characters….so much time and over over again and the little booths just make it so personal. Honerable mention to artist point for unique meal and to crystal palace for Pooh characters who were my DDs fave as a little so it was a must for us.m

Also I’ve done all these plus some of the now closed ones so I’m voting with full experience.
