We hopped a lot more frequently when they had the park-to-park transportation. That was sweet!
I so wanted to use that. Having transport behind security sounded so good! No having to recheck bags and stuff. It got removed right before we went.
I think the only way to do this now is between MK and Epcot, right? (I’m trying to remember if you have to pass through security before or after.)
That sounds right
Correct. The Monorail is behind security, and that’s why you have to clear it in CR/Poly/GF as well. So traveling between MK and Epcot with the rail is fine.
We always start in Epcot. We will always ride Guardians first, and then do whatever we wanted to do that day
We used to ride it twice with the VQ, but now they got rid of that.
Which, truth be told, almost NEVER happens for us. I think the last couple of times we used the MK/Epcot monorail, it was just to rest and take a ride on the MK/Epcot monorail, and NOT to actually hop!!!
That’s why I didn’t vote! Out of protest for no “other” option!!
Ok sassy pants, then what would your response be? ![]()
Depends on the day!
Sometimes I just spend a few hours in a park, eat and go home. On that day not hopping is the best choice.
Other times I will spend 12+ hours hitting more than one park. On those days hopping is the best choice.
Also I don’t really care I just had to get in on the harassing of you leaving out the “other” option.

Someone’s feeling better! ![]()
Of all things things throughout all the years worth protesting, this one definitely ranks near the top. ![]()
We will miss down that too. [But, Dad (me) will not miss waking up at 6:55 am to book the VQ after closing down MNSSHP or MVMCP with an 11:59 pm ride on SM the night before.]
That was the beauty of having to be up to be at the Epcot tollbooth by 3:30 am. We’re already up for the 7:00 VQ!
The monorail circling over part of EP brings back a lot of good memories of riding that monorail loop as a kid in the 80s.
I’m pro-hopping for the sake of LLMP. Not as a cost-cutting measure (ie. starting at AK), but as a way to get access to more lightning lanes. I can quickly exhaust all of the LLs at a park before the early afternoon, so moving to a different park after allows me to get access to all their LLs as well.
Did this on my last trip with my father, allowed us to do LLs all day long, never waiting on standby unless we really wanted to for a specific ride.
For me, the scenery of a new park is also really refreshing, and makes the trip feel twice as long. Going back to the room for a quick nap or even change of clothes makes it feel like a whole new day, so my 3 day trip feels like 6 days. Love it!!
We prefer to focus on one park a day. My wife does not even like crossing the park, even if it means shorter waits. She prefers to see all of one section and then move on.
We almost always hop. I think of it as insurance in case the weather impacts plans in one of the parks. We usually rope drop, take an afternoon break from the heat, and then close the parks. We also book Epcot (cheaper) to ride Guardians and then start booking LLMP in the other parks.
I prefer to hop because AK opens so early and closes so early, and that allows the ability to go to other parks late at night. And, as others have said, we often take a midday break, so it really isn’t that much more of a hassle. And on our last day, it’s nice to move around and try to hit favorites in the different parks.
I have loved seeing these, some fantastic arguments here! Thank you all. Hope you’re enjoying the podcast! Episode 2 will be with you very soon!
