Poll Time! Lightning Lane Changes

I wish they could figure out a way to make this happen. I honestly don’t mind lines as long as I’m moving. I detest standing still in line.

We only used the paper system once or twice as well. But we let the kids be big boys and girls and go get them all, lol.

DH LOVED this aspect of post-covid lines. The spacing made the lines seem long but they kept moving and people weren’t crowding you. A Saturday in MK was our only day that we didn’t experience that in Dec 2020.

I liked the free FPP but looking back now, I didn’t mind G+ when it was the flat $15/day and they hadn’t closed all the loopholes with BG1 (sorry Joel, I only did it for one trip and it sure was fun even if it makes me a bad person ).

Disney knew that FP, etc , slowed down standby lines…so that’s when they started converting over a lot of the lines to have more to see and do in them so that you don’t mind standing still as much

I don’t think it worked.

And then you give me Maxpass as an option  (definitely the best)

But it kind of relys on having more rides per park to work so well…

I’d like to have re-rides! At least of tier 2. Since I don’t love thrill rides, the possibility of re-riding a favorite in the same day, if it was convenient, would add a lot of value for me personally!

I liked the fact that at one time, with FP+, you could use one of your FP’s to get a premium spot for fireworks. Then they changed it to a money grab with the before and after dessert parties. I was fine with the original dessert party, if you wanted to pay for that and it was available, but when they took away the FP viewing spots, that made me angry. At the end of the day, after we had done all of the FP attractions we wanted to do, we always tried to score one of these FP spots and got lucky most of the time!

Nope. That was mostly before our time, although we must have used it once or twice as well. We didn’t know anything about how to work the system, but I do remember our delight at being given fast passes by people leaving the parks and being able to do the same when we left.

Just voted and surprised myself by choosing Genie+ as my preferred option - NOT because I liked it, in reality it was a huge PITA in the park and almost melted my phone several times.

But with stacking and the added benefit of BG1 it also afforded optimizers like us an absolutely huge advantage over muggles.

I know I was able to game paper FPs, FP+, MaxPass, and G+ to my party’s benefit.

That said, I’d still prefer no skip the line option be used. That way it’s fair for everyone, standby lines always move (unless the ride goes down), and people can self-select what they are willing to wait for with (what should be) more accurate wait times.

The Defunctland documentary on FP+ was eye opening.

And the Sept 2020 trip I took w/ no FPs/LLs was very relaxing.

I think truly if I could design the thing myself, I would probably keep G+ but eliminate the 7am thing and allow pre-planning at a set number of days ahead.

Agreed, that’s what I would want.

I loved the rerides! They should bring that back.to DLR. Why not? And love having it for Tier 2 rides - it increases the value of the product. We would ride EE multiple times!

As someone who is up very early because of at least 1 kid will wake up early (I swear they communicate behind our backs and plan out who will take the early shift). I never really minded the 7 am part, but I did hate the whole time focused schedule it created. I felt like with Genie+ I was always staying mindful of the clock, because at exactly 7 am I had to do this, then exactly 2 hours after open, I was doing the next, etc, etc.

I love that it is moving to an action oriented schedule (book next one when I use previous), vs. a clock oriented schedule.

I don’t understand the new system any more than I understood Genie+, or worse, BG1 (still an absolutely foreign concept to me). I understood Virtual Queues and Individual Lightning Lanes. Get up early, get good spot in line, pay for the exact thing you want. Easy. Not as free and athletic as the original FastPass, but easy.

I have no idea how to get ready for my December trip. We’ll be staying onsite, but we’ll be using a CM’s comp tickets for admission to the parks. Those don’t get assigned to us, so I have no idea how to get the thing which equates to an ILL if they don’t release ILL’s at 7:00 any more.

I guess… I guess I’m going to have to find a way to enjoy Disney without riding any of the current E-ticket rides. Fortunately, I never needed an ILL for the PeopleMover!

Honestly, whether or not the system is more optimizable, this alone is going to make it so much simpler to use and explain.

Just to put it into perspective, here is a comparison of the sections on “additional LL reservations” from the dedicated threads under the two systems:

Genie+

  1. Additional LL Reservations A guest may apply for additional LLs at the earliest of:
    a) Once you tap in (at the second tap point, if applicable) at your most recently booked LL attraction
    b) The end time of the return window (excluding the grace period) of your most recently booked LL attraction
    c) The later of:
  • Two hours after you book your most recent LL
  • Two hours after official opening (i.e., not the early entry opening) of the park where the most recently booked LL attraction is located (your first LL selection can be either where you are starting your day or where you are hopping). Note: If you are able to use your first LL (e.g., at AK) before the opening of the park where your second LL is located (e.g., at Epcot), the 2-hour window for your second LL will start at the opening of the 2nd LL’s park.

New Lightning Lane

  1. Additional LL Reservations A guest may apply for another LL as soon as they have used any of their pre-booked LLs, or any LL booked on the day of their visit. In other words, guests may always hold up to three LLs.

I promise you that someday this won’t be true.

I am a little worried about Mr Ear Scouts.

I should go see how he’s doing

I hate tiers and am not happy they brought that back. I said to myself with G+ how great it was to have no tiers. It allowed me to do everything with G+ in the smaller parks.
