Method used (e.g. fax request, note on reservation, on-line check-in, etc.): TP fax
Room requested: TP thinks it’s room 1315. I asked for anything on the first floor. If that wasn’t possible, then anything in the 60s
Additional circumstances (anything that may have affected your request): none
Result: 2413. Not the “building” I requested, but my biggest key was first floor. I had a car, so location was not as important. We just wanted no stairs. So I count this as a huge win!
This is a picture from the front. Not much to look at, but there’s not much to look at from any door
That is. Because I always specifically request a room that does not have a connecting door. But every time I’ve put the verbage NO connecting door I always get one. I’ve been told you shouldn’t use the word no in a room request because it often gets overlooked and you get the opposite of what you want.
Class of room booked: Villa, Deluxe Studio Preferred View
Method used: Touring plans
Room requested: any third floor room in the booked category
Additional circumstances: (1) checked in on the app but also went to desk on arrival at resort and told them willing to wait longer for a third floor room. (2) Also, reservation noted it was my birthday (which was true) (3) I paid cash (via bounceback offer) rather than use dvc points.
Result: room 3020 (so request met and we were very happy as we were aiming for a theme park view, which this had with view of castle and Space Mountain and I believe part of Big Thunder. First floor rooms are same category and nice but can’t see castle, etc. but rather the bungalows and some water. This was in Moorea, which is the only building with this category of room and then only one side of the building).
This will be my first time trying. B/c I didn’t love the TP finder default verbage, and b/c there are several specific rooms I like rather than just one or a section, I changed it to say the area, building, floor, and then stated “in order of preference, #xxxx, #xxxx, #xxxx…” I included five specific rooms I would be pleased with. Any reason to think this is a bad idea?
I think that sounds fine. The key is to be simple, focus on your priorities, and avoid negatives (ie, say “upper floor” instead of “not the first floor”).
You might also state WHY you want those rooms. If they aren’t available, they might be able to meet your needs with another room that you didn’t know would fit the bill.
Yep, both times I put NO connecting rooms, I got connecting rooms. I hate those doors. This next trip (hopefully it happens) I just put the building/ section I preferred, ground floor and then listed room #'s that were not connecting. If they pick any of them, I will be happy. I’m more about being close to the main lobby (or Skyliner if at Pop/ Caribbean Beach) than any specific view. Without a balcony I wouldn’t really be enjoying it anyway (except at Swan looking over to the Boardwalk. I love that view).
Yes. This is a good strategy. I make sure to put that we have light mobility issues and will not have an ECV so short walking to the lobby and transportation is important. We have always been accommodated that way- even if we didn’t get any of the other requests met.
We’re seeing a huge increase in AI bot and scraper traffic to the hotel maps and room images. It’s potentially adding ~$20K/year to our bandwidth costs. I suspect bot/scraper traffic is more than 50% of the visits to the site at some points in the day. So we need to take steps to mitigate that.
We’ve added some geographic restrictions on IP addresses that can access the site. This is primarily for China and SE Asian countries from which we don’t expect actual customers. (It had the effect of blocking one actual Liner in Pakistan, which we’re fixing. Let me know if you’re outside the US and see unusual behavior.)
The next step will be to put the hotel maps behind the login prompt. It’ll still be free, but you’ll need to log in to see them. That would be the last step, assuming nothing else worked well enough.
First time using the room request feature & it looks like I don’t HAVE to select a specific room if I choose Manual Entry - that I can just request the building # we want at All Star Music. Is that correct & does that work as well as using the room finder? I can do either - thanks!
