I just got my room assignment text. Since I am still at work impatiently waiting to finish the day and head to the airport to fly down (flight currently delayed–thank you, Debby), thought I would post my results.

Resort: Poly Villas
Room: studio (standard)
Method: TP fax
I requested Tokelau 3rd floor.
I got Pago Pago 2nd floor (2102).

Just checked the room finder tool, and our balcony overlooks the lovely parking lot. . . it’s fine. I comfort myself in being closer to the TTC.

Ok, maybe not the best view, but any room at Poly is awesome! And that is a great location for getting both to the TTC and resort monorail. I’m sure you’ll love it.

Resort: Pop Century (Split stay, consecutive days)
Room: standard/preferred
Requested: building 6 (70’s), 6340/6414, not connecting
Received: building 10 (70’s), 0253, connecting

Request sent via Touring Plans.

It was a tricky request, because we have two different reservations (consecutive days), the 2 first nights were in a standard room, and the 8 next are in a preferred, so our first and most important request was to not have to changes rooms, even if we receive a standard room for the whole stay. And we received a preferred for the first 2 nights, I have not arrived WDW yet, but I hope this means we don’t have to change.

Resort: Port Orleans French Quarter
Room: garden view
Method: TP
Requested: 7730
Other info: I said they (this was on behalf of my friend) had always stayed in building 1 because they like how quiet it is, but since that is closed for refurb they would like building 7.

Received: initially 6119, which overlooks the area where they do smores and the film at night. They asked if there was a quieter room available, and were upgraded to river view still in building 6, which is a gorgeous view up towards Riverside. It was really an abject failure but worked out well in the end.

Resort: Boardwalk Inn
Room: Resort view
Method: TP
Requested: 5266
Other info: 1st Priority - High floor; 2nd Priority - not immediately next to elevators; 3rd Prioity - King bed
Received: 5274
Got my first and second priority criteria and I knew a king bed was a long shot. I was really happy with the room. I had a clear view of the Epcot fireworks and could see Spaceship Earth clearly from the balcony.

Resort: Port Orleans Riverside
Room: preferred room
Method: TP
Requested: building 18, second floor
Received: 1553

Upon arrival at 11:45 am I went to the desk. They said there was a building 18 second floor room but it wasn’t ready yet. I was willing and prepared to take any available preferred room to get to lunch and MNSSHP. 1553 is second floor with a woods/parking lot view. Super short walk to the main building and quick service and the Alligator Bayou pool is close. Building 18 actually has a bunch of maintenance so I’m thankful I can avoid the green fences. I think any preferred room would be totally fine at this resort!

Resort: Pop Century
Room: Preferred room, non pool view
Method: TP
Requested: 5359
Received: 5359

Success! We like this general location as it’s centrally located with short walks to everything.
In direct check in I said after 5pm arrival as we planned to go to the parks directly. I wanted to increase the chances of getting our request. We received a text at 10:47 am (shortly after landing) that our room wasn’t ready. A 11:37 am our room was ready! Unfortunately the operations during refurbishment of the Pop food court pushed us to AoA frequently.

I don’t really care much for the food court so I didn’t realize it was under refurbishment until I was there this past week! It is quite disruptive. There was a huge line for the soda fountain at 10:30pm and it looked like it would be a nightmare to eat there during meal times.

Ahem. This is my favorite thread on the whole message board, and I get giddy when I see that there is a new post on it.

We only renewed touring plans subscription 4 days out from our recent trip to Port Orleans Riverside, arriving 18th Aug just gone. We submitted a room request via TP and edited it to specify the factors important to us, retaining the overall style. Building 85, and close proximity to the pool, (possibly ground floor as well). Then we edited the example rooms, putting the room numbers in order of preference, starting with the room (8526) which we got randomly assigned on our first visit there 15 years ago. We followed this with a few other standard view room numbers in the vicinity in order of preference.
This was not what Disney gave us we got room 8541 which is very much in the vicinity of the request, but is a river view room, not a standard. This resulted in myself and our eldest daughter jumping for joy in the airport, and my partner suggesting we were slightly lacking in the sensible thinking department as a room is just a room. She revised her opinion when we got there.

  • Room requested: near Skyliner, similar to 4249 Jamaica
  • Additional circumstances: Building 42 in Jamaica, Floor 2, a room like 4249, facing the beach sand and the water
  • Result: Jamaica 4208, it’s not horrible for sure. We got Jamaica and for our first time, I’m still in love.
