Crowd sourcing an issue I’m finding as I do final prep for next week. As I plan for HS, I loaded in my MP selections and reordered the algorithm listing and I have RnR and ToT as my early entry first stops. The issue is after RoR ends at 838am, it pushed ToT to 10am (80+ min free time)? Not using a MP for either. Everything else seems to work fine in terms of sequencing. Have used the tool for years and have not seen this.
Any thoughts?

You probably don’t have quite enough attractions to fill the time you’ve allotted. So it has given you this free time, presumably because moving anything up or down would result in a longer wait time somewhere (or everywhere). Since the program is designed to give you the shortest waits, it thinks it’s better for you to have free time than a longer wait.
Does that make sense?

Hey OB…don’t think it’s that…full slate; three MP and one LL. I’m tweaking breaktime and everything else falls pretty much in line. It’s almost as if the algorithm is saying ToT doesn’t open till 10am. I’ve placed other rides in between and still pushes to 10am.

It really does look fine, and like it just needs that time to fill up the time you’ve given to the plan
Are you seeing a math error? That’s I think what would have to be the case of what I suggested to not be what’s happening

If you still are convinced the plan is wonky, you could ask someone at TP to look at it. Follow this link and click “Submit A Request”

TPs definitely don’t like when you don’t have enough rides to fill the time. I feel like the free time goes in the weirdest places. But can you re-look at how you entered the ToT LL? I see the ST one has the window listed but ToT doesn’t. Could the window be setup wrong?

Sometimes it does things that makes sense algorithmically, but not necessary what seems logical. For example, if you have extra time in a plan, if there is 3 hours to fill, where does it put, say, Small World if there is a low wait? It will try to pick the time that makes you wait 5 minutes instead if 7 minutes (or whatever) even if it has you standing around for 3 hours to save those two minutes!

Gonna delete the entire plan and re-do to see if I did something odd. Despite ten years of using TP not beyond thinking it’s user error

You can always force things by changing start time at the park, end time at the park, or putting in a break or two where you want them. Then reoptimize.

And it’s overall wait time. While you could find a way to save 10-15 minutes in one line it could increaseyour overall wait by 20-30 minutes. Sometimes I focus too much on one particular wait time and move things around but then other rides get wonky and it’s best to just put it back.
For HS, agreed. It looked like your LL time for ToT was to around 10am maybe. You can also make sure to uncheck force LL usage (or whatever the verbage is). Also, make sure you didn’t evaluate that last go round- that you actually optimized it.

Figured it out…because I am using MP, even though I don’t have a MP for ToT, it WANTS me to book it once I tap into StarT.
Separately, in terms of “day of” modifications/adds to MP, are we able to do so at 7am or only after we tap into the first MP? Have seen conflicting narratives on that process.

I can’t speak to modifications, but you can’t book another MP until you tap into the first one…OR let it expire. But I’m not an expert. There is a thread around here somewhere with advanced strategies. Probably worth taking a gander.

There are 2 playbooks for rules. Pre-booking and day-of. You will switch to day of as soon as you tap into anyone of your LLs for the first time that day. Pre-booking has the park, overlapping and tier restrictions. Day-of that all drops off.
You can check out the LL threads main post to see more specifics, but that’s the very basic info on it.
You can book your next LL when one either expires or you tap. But you are bound by your rulebook.
You can modify anytime and on the day of but it has to be to the same tier/park unless you have tapped into one.
